I got to be the hero tonight

There is a huge Jeep Bantam festival in Butler tonight. Supposed to break some worlds record of the most jeeps in one place at the same time. Bantam/jeep was actually started/founded right here in Butler.
Anyhow, we ride up there, check out the Jeep parade, go to Lowe's, get some dinner and are heading home. We are coming down this big hill that leads to a sharp turn by the railroad tracks, and there are 5-6 jeeps, parked there all with their hazards flashing, I roll past, and then notice that there is a car stuck on the railroad tracks. We can hear the train coming in the distance. All of these lifted 4x4 jeeps sitting there, and not one guy has a chain, or rope. I was in the shop beater grand cherokee who's main purpose in life is hauling parts, and towing broken down vehicles into the shop. I jump out, connect her up to the tow strap, and yank her off the tracks. Less than one minute later , the train comes rolling past. She almost made the 11 o' clock news.

Dude, why hadn't they pushed it off the track?

Props to you, though.

Damn! Too bad you were not driving something like a minivan, or worse a FJ40 or something.

Why was it stuck?

From Fred's description, it sounds like the owner had lost control in that sharp turn, gone wide, and gotten the car stuck on the tracks... and/or tried to take it across the tracks at a location that did not coincide with a roadway.

That's bad ASS! We never know when our time will come to step in. Glad you caught that chance to help others. That's the true calling of man, IMHO.

Good for you but what a weird story. You mean to say that all of the homos driving the lifted Jeeps were standing around with their thumbs up their asses while a train was bearing down on a stalled car??

Good job! Seems like it should have been taken care of before you got there though. What were the others doing, that they didn't even try to push it off the tracks?
It's been my experience that when you do something good like this, it gets paid back to me tenfold. I hope you have the same experience.

Yep, I am assuming they had probably just arrived on the scene as well, but they were all scrambling around, yelling, and I could hear someone calling 911. I still had my tow strap tied to my hitch, so I just backed up, hooked it up ,and yanked it out, while all these tools were running around . I was amazed at all these tough looking jeeps sitting there, and no one seemed to know what to do . It was a mid sized american car that had overshot the roadway, not someone in a Jeep goofing around. I think it was a chrysler, at least the muffler that seared my arm while I was hanging the strap on looked like a mopar product. She had both front wheels over the first rail, and both front tires were blown out, so there was no pushing it, I think she was grounded on the rail. I did not fuch around looking, just hooked up, and pulled, I did not want to still be connected when the train came along,
