Any SUP-ers (stand up paddleboarders) out there?

I'm thinking of getting one but I don't know much about them.

F-em My nextdoor neighbor shreads one. He's in the process of opening a shop. I'm 270# and no board over 7'. Either a hero or zero on takeoffs.

I was thinking along the lines of something 70% flat water, 30% waves. But the more I look into it I realise it may be quite a good big wave board. Not gnarly big waves, just big soft point break type waves. I read somewhere that they need to be a certain size (boyancy?) depending on body weight. Also I want to be able to just get out there and float around so nothing to radical.
