Saw a vintage Ferrari today
Sorry, no photos.
I was dropping off my E21 for a smog test and one of the shops down the road (custom upholstery) had the big door rolled up and inside was a Ferrari 250 California Spyder. Not Rosso Corsa, but the Burgundy (Steve McQueen Luzzo) sort of red. Beautiful. The whole car was so clean and shiny. Sparkling chrome. I wonder how often it gets driven? Living in So Cal has its perks.

It had the covered headlights. Apparently that makes it a series 2.

Max, LWB California Spyder. That is a $3.5 to $4 million car.

Was it driven by a teenage kid hooking class? I bet the passengers were the kid's hot girlfriend and his uptight high maintenance buddy.

I think the color you're describing is Rosso Rubino -- Ruby Red. Nice. Never much cared for the California, but do wish I had bought at least one Ferrari when they were in the low 5-figure range.

I kept my '57 Vette for 18 hours, but was offered nearly 4X what I paid for it and let it go. Kept my GT350 for a year, got what I had in it and let it go so I could buy a house. The 330GTC I was offered was $17,500 but it was silver and I hate silver. So it goes...

Bought my DB4 for $1,750. Sold it 37 years later for $250,000. I sort of miss it, but then I look at my bank statement and I feel better.

I remember stopping by the exotic car dealer by my house as a kid when the GTO's were just expensive old red sports cars and not crazy expensive cars like today. I remember describing the dealer to a girl I was dating in college and she asked if I remembered an orange tubbed out Hemi dodge at the same dealer. I said yes and she asked if I leaned on it??? I said no, why? She said it was her dad's and it had a super thin acid dipped body.

Got that right. Someday I will upgrade it more like the 911 in the suspension department. Smog regs mean I can't ditch the CIS without going to an S14 or something.
