I have too many "projects" sitting around. Sometimes I wonder if I should tag and price some things so my wife knows what they are and what to ask for them at the auction.

At 75, I've pretty much experienced all that has been mentioned so far. The best? news is that for you old farts just entering this "wonderland", you will learn to accomodate diminished capacities. You don't have to like it, but you will get used to it.

Last month I decided to try to maintain some semblance of fitness, so I cleaned up my bicycle and went up the driveway, turned around, stopped, got a cramp in my landing foot and leg, lost my balance and fell in the opposite direction on my hip and shoulder. So, this coming Monday I am having rotator cuff reconstructive surgery. The good news is I expect to be able to hold my 1911 in the one-handed offhand old military position, and, I didn't hurt my hip more than a big bruise.

On the brighter side, there are many things that we don't "have to do" any more. ( You can supply your own examples).

I like the "label and price" all the projects that may never get finished, by DaveE.

Keep on keepin' on!

Plopping down on the toilet and feeling cocky that you're getting a cold wet sensation...then realizing it's your scrotum and not yer johnson.

Lasik cured my need for glasses but killed my low level light accuity. I use a head band monted night or a SureFire flash when under the ride......

Nose and ear hair.....ditto, a pinch between the nails used to suffice.....now I have my own electric hedge trimmer.....

Here's what irks me...
Lack of energy. I use to be able to keep up with the teenagers in softball and other sports, but not anymore.

As a 92 year old guy told me once "When I was younger I had to place my di(k under the fence rail so I didn't piss in my face, now that I'm older I have to place it over the fence rail so I don't piss on my shoes."

Arthritis in my feet. I can't run anymore. My last marathon was Paris, 2008. Reading glasses are a big pain too.

I hit the gene lottery pool as well. My Dad is 82 and still rides his motorcycle, takes long trips and generally rolls his own way. His father lived to 96.

I'll be 55 in November...the creaks and groans suck but the motor still runs.

I have zero to complain about. Satchel Paige was right.

Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter.

Losing hair, yep....ear and nose hair, yep....Gone from reading glasses to 'regular' glasses. Small bruises, cuts or scrapes seem to last forever instead of a couple of days.

A big peeve is have to watch what I eat, and quantity. Used to be able to eat anything I wanted, in whatever quantity I wanted, and not worry about it. Now if I'm not careful, it seems like I balloon up overnight. And getting it off ain't near as easy or as much fun.

At least going back to teaching young (er) kids how to climb poles is providing a LOT more exercise and I'm feeling better for it.

Satchel was great.

Dueller, I was going to post about the elongation of the scrotum but you beat me to it.

Mossguy, hope the surgery goes well.

Reading glasses suck.

You guys are kids. I'm 63 in 3 weeks. Not much to complain about. Can still see well up close, but do feel tired mid-day and coffee ain't the solution it used to be.

Paul: Satchel Paige was mostly right. But if you don't force yourself to become aware that your 35-feeling self looks 20 years older on the outside, you're going to have a lot of disappointing interactions with people. It's not all on the inside. I can feel young, I can ride my bike and move like a young man, but I can't stop 40 year-olds from calling me 'sir.'

No worries, I know exactly who and what I am...odd, however, I am much more in tune with my physical side than I was when I played college sports. I work out every morning, not to stem the tide, but to manage the ebb as best I can.

I'm not looking to be young again, just manage the facility better, mentally and physically.

And best, Tom.

The fact that we start losing parents and our similarly-aged wives hit menopause all at the same time...

Excruciating pain that wakes me up nightly because I was a college athlete... perhaps a new mattress could help with this.

Going through 500 tablet ibuprofen bottles really fast.

My new program is 30 at 55 and 35 at 75.

I want to feel like I am 30 in 4 years when I hit 55, and only progress to 35 by 75. At least with the things I can control... reading glasses are not one of those things.

It's hard to have a young mind when the body is old and wore out.

One back surgery, one knee surgery, the other knee needs cortisone shots periodically, broken heel bone so one leg is shorter than the other. Mostly due to desert motorcycle racing.
Like they say it's never the same after it heals.
I have to be very careful to keep from aggravating one of those old injuries and that really slows me down. Sometimes it seems the only thing I can do that doesn't hurt is get horizontal on the couch.

Let me give you duffers some inspiration. This is my dad on his triathlon bike this summer. He's done 8 of them this year. He is a week away from being 67.
