Love the pic'. There is a nature/bird reserve just around the corner from Cape Saint Francis. I dunno, some reason like VERY deep water just off shore then hits the sandbars. Woooo, a very heavy duty wave. All the local boys were nature enthusiasts so the could have a key to get into the reserve LOL |

Thanks for the link. Nice little film. I'm always amazed how great a song Fire on the Mountain is, and it's only two chords the whole time.

You're welcome, Charlie....thanks for the post! They did an amazing job on that film.....just fantastic!

Montgomery Ernest Thomas Kaluhiokalani 1958-2013
Known as 'Buttons', this beautiful man from Hawaii was the single fin maestro we used to look to in the 1990s when everyone was seduced by pointy nosed, banana-rockered 2 inch thick 'thrusters' and that ugly style of surfing they encourage. Because Buttons could do anything (and more) on his 1970's shapes, the freedom of no leg rope made it even more joyful to watch. As we get more into surfing we realise that it isn't about the board or even really the wave, it is about the soul of the rider, their sensitivities, their character and their dance; the oneness with the gyro-energy that is a wave and how they interact with it. <iframe width="953" height="536" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LIoFg7JECHc" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Picked up this Dale Velzy lonboard, looks to be a Pig based on dimensions. Water tight and surfable, but will hang on the wall most of the time.

Banner week so far.
Yesterday in the mail I received a new surfing DVD movie called "Stylemasters". All retro stuff the way I like. :) Had it in my truck all day playing.....killer footage of the North Shore and all the legends from back in the day. Then today.....I picked up my new shooter! It's a 7'8" clone of the Stewart Hydro Hull. The 3 color fade is my trademark for all my boards. Yellow to Green to Blue. I have the three fins to use with it and will ride it like a thruster for now. Water temp is 66 here - so manageable with the right wet suit - and we are in a warming trend - so I know I will have it in the water by Friday. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1641340930.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1641340930.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1641340930.JPG |
Dead flat around here today.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1641353679.jpg So I took the standup out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1641353768.jpg |
^^^ Nice, Bill! Very pretty there and at least you didn't have to fight the crowd! ;)
|
Thanks. I loved it. Paddling around looking down through the water at all the fish scooting about. I also had three real swims too.

My new Stewart arrived today.
Ordered it last Thursday night - was shipped the next day (Friday) from California - and arrived yesterday in Orlando. Shipping by "Daylight Transportation". My neighbor said he ordered one 4 freaking months ago from the local Quiet Flight shop. The factory is 30 minutes away in Canaveral. Still no board - nor any idea when he'll get it. This board is amazing - for a seven footer it's so light it's insane. Chimed rails and some nice contours along the bottom. I can tell it's going to be super fun to ride! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642028037.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642028037.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642028140.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642028140.JPG |

Oh, nice. I'm such an old man surfer I think of a seven footer as a short board. It would be fun to try it out in twin fin configuration. A cyclone swell is hitting NZ on Monday. So if you never hear from me again it means it didn't do too well LOL |
A trip to this place would be quite an iconic adventure!
