Now Baz, I keep telling you to stop posing those pictures of me. Really! Don't want to make the other surfers here feel bad with all my skiiiiiiiillllllzzzzzz. ;) although I have to admit that picture rocks. My orange bikini IS my lucky one. ;)

I'll say Burleigh Heads or somewhere within 30kms up or down the coast, and MR himself.

Mph- I need to know How does that wave peel away from the beach. That is some unusual activity. Not saying it doesn't happen but I haven't seen it; is there some unique local geography? Looks amazing anyway :D

Matt - I'll let "Matt" explain but here's a pic of Collaroy taken from the opposite view and you can see how the beach bends into the point where the photo was taken. Indeed very beautiful country.

Matt, the whole beach forms something like a large bay, the picture is taken from the beach in roughly the middle of the pic below.

Classic footage as usual Bazza, brings to mind a Bill Barnfield winger stinger single fin I had then. And yes it did have a Lightening bolt on it:-)

Thanks Richard.....a lot of heritage from the islands.....the lightning bolt enigma being a huge part of it. Think about how many bolts wound up on boards all over the world over the years. Probably the most iconic icon ever!

Speaking of iconic.....set to 720p and expand to full screen :)

For some reason I always have the urge to go to Target after watching that video! ;)

tweezers74 05-25-2012 06:26 PM

Train video rocks. Well, actually, all these videos and pictures rock! I love this thread. It makes me happy. :)

This is kind of off topic but in the same realm. I want to get a longboard since I can't catch many waves here in Arizona. Anybody longboard here? This video makes me want to do it so bad. These girls are so freaking awesome! I want to be like them! Looks so fun! I have watched this video a million times. It gives me such a rush...

Hey Tweeze that is a cool video, those girls have skills and are having a blast:-)
Years ago my buddies and I , on the big island used to skateboard a giant slalom on a high mountain road. We would drive up with a cooler in the back of my VW beachbuggy. Three of us would ride while one could rest and drive. the run was about three miles long and took lots of turning in parts to keep the speed down to a survivable number in case of a wreck or the need to bail out on the side of the road.
One time we were resting at the side about mid way down, when we heard a weird high pitched sound coming down from above. Soon two young guys came blasting by at unbelievable speed. Just bombing the hill, something we had never done or really even thought too much about trying. they had slippers on their hands for brakes. these we saw at the bottom of the hill completely worn thru from being dragged.
Somehow our cautious geezer runs never seemed the same after that.
Damned young guns (thats meant in green)

Cheers Richard

Similar paths .. My friends and I had a great run on Haleakala that we'd do often, especially before snowboarding season. I did as much machine work on waverunners and skateboards as I did on automotive. For downhill carving, the addition of rear disc brakes was game-changing for us. Full speed ahead without fear of crashing.

Bill Douglas 05-25-2012 11:56 PM

Umm, I still have the scars on my elbows from doing that on steep twisty roads on the way back from surf trips.

Baz 05-26-2012 04:49 PM

Surfers on the other hand, welcome the possibility of large ocean swell development.

Thought that was funny coming from a NOAA weather report concerning TS Beryl:

Brevard Times: NOAA Hurricane Storm Tracker: Beryl Barreling Toward Florida

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qoP3PE7ypC...400/memnow.png

Quote:

MIAMI, Florida -- NOAA's National Hurricane Center storm tracker in Miami, Florida has issued a Special Tropical Weather Outlook at 11:00 a.m. EDT on May 26, 2012 due to the development of a 2012 Memorial Day Weekend Sub-Tropical Storm Beryl that has become better defined in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Carolina, Florida and Georgia.

Sub-Tropical Storm Beryl has maximum sustained winds of 45 m.p.h., with higher gusts, and is located 330 miles east-northeast of Jacksonville, Florida. Sub-Tropical Storm Beryl is moving much faster than earlier today to the southwest at 9 miles per hour and is forecasted to make landfall near Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday.

A tropical storm warning is in effect north of Florida's Space Coast from the Brevard County - Volusia County line northward to Edisto Beach, South Carolina during the 2012 Memorial Day Weekend as the system moves closer to a landfall on the Southeastern U.S. coast.

A tropical storm watch is in effect from Edisto Beach, South Carolina northward to South Santee River, South Carolina.

Sub-Tropical Storm Beryl will produce high seas off the Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina Atlantic Ocean coasts which is bad news for boaters where Memorial Day weekend is traditionally a busy day for recreational boating and fishing.

Beryl is also bad news for retailers in the affected areas who rely heavily on Memorial Day sales.

Sub Tropical Storm Beryl could also produce dangerous rip currents for the 2012 Memorial Day weekend beach goers along the Space Coast and east coast Florida and Georgia beaches.

Surfers on the other hand, welcome the possibility of large ocean swell development.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours:
We need rain too badly! Yipee! :D
