You are brave. I wouldn´t touch the stuff. Not nearly as bad as surströmming of course, but still.

Part Swedish. I'll be visiting my Swedish cousins next summer. They're all from Ornskolsdvik, but one maintains a second home in Stockholm because of her job. Her name is Maud Olafsson. You may have heard of her.

Really? Maud Olofsson! You are pretty high connected then! :D

Edit, not one person has mentioned Aquivit! Every good Scandinavian has to have at least one bottle in the freezer! :)

Joe knows his way around the contents of Scandinavian freezers, thats for sure! :D

My ancestral name was Johannsen. It got changed when my great somethings emigrated to the US. And my daughter has bright blue eyes and blond hair. That might be good for an associate membership?

Markus:

During our walk today, my dog Jack (see pic) successfully mounted a dog, which, according to its owner, was a Swedish "Drever" dog—or some such thing. (But it was definitely Swedish.)

I think Jack thus deserves to be admitted to this august group. What say you?

Yes, Dottore, a Drever is a very popular hunting dog in Sweden. An original Swedish breed I believe. Jack is admitted directly. :)

LWJ, that should count. Depending on whether the name was spelled Johansson or Johannsen, it would indicate a Swedish or Norwegian/Danish ancestry.

I was driving her around Palo Alto CA recently. I was driving extra carefully, thinking if I get into a mishap I'll make the front pages in Sweden. BTW, she's very nice and down to earth.

Incredible! In terms of being well known, that would be like me saying I recently had a beer with Arnold S. here in Vejbystrand.

I'm a non lutefisk eating Norwegain, 25 km north of Oslo. My first post in OT though.

Same here. My last name is now "son" but was "sen" when they came through Ellis Island. Seeing all of the people from the home country my great grandfather started using the "son" spelling to be more "American" and it's stayed that way. All of my family back in Denmark/Germany still use the "sen" spelling.

My mother's family were Swedish farmers 2nd Gen.

I still eat pancakes with milk and sugar. Is that close enough for an honorable mention?
