For some reason my favorite rock station keeps on playing that KISS disco song.
The station gets changed so fast I can't remember it's name....

No leisure suit, but I did have low rise leather pants and a peasant shirt. I failed that I didn't have the fruit boots. ;) :D

Poll: Greatest Disco song ever

Asking what is the best disco song is like asking what is the best form of torture or the best flavor of castor oil.

KC and the Sunshine Band were disco? What about Tower of Power and Average White Band? I've still got all of those on my mp3 player, but I never thought of them as disco...

My first wife (who bought all that stuff for me because she was/is a fashion hound) burned every pic of me from my childhood on when we separated.

No, seriously, she did.

NO votes for the "YMCA"?

You guys disappoint.

Laneco 09-04-2011 08:08 AM

Good Lord, Milt, what a HORRIBLE thing to do! My husband's first wife destroyed every picture she could find of Steve with a girlfriend. Ridiculous.

When we got married, his parents gave him copies of those old pictures that they had saved. We still have them. I would never consider destroying them. They are part of my husband's life.

Oh and back on the topic - do you guys remember the song Disco Duck? I got a huge kick out of that one when I was a teenager. Probably not as enjoyable now, but then - dang - knew every word!

There is a bunch of awesome disco. Back in the day, as a rocker I had the same "disco sucks" attitude. Then I opened my ears and started playing funk - then discovered to joy of big fat grooves.

As Art already mention, "To Be Real" is a great tune with a sick bass line.

Here's another: Forget Me Nots The Bass line - YouTube

Kool And The Gang - Jungle Boogie - YouTube

BT Express - Express - YouTube

Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly - YouTube

Emotions - Best Of My Love (HQ with lyrics) - YouTube

If it's got a groove and makes you want to dance, it rocks...

Por_sha911 09-04-2011 09:55 AM

Virtually every song listed by people who like Disco are reasons why I despise disco. I say virtually all because I don't recognize some of the songs.
I didn't even like Shakedown Street and I was a deadhead.
Nostat: I'd rather play the blues, bluegrass or country/rock than play disco.
