Lithium Impact Drivers
Milwaukee has one rated at ~450ft. lbs, DeWalt has one rated at ~300ft. lbs, Ryobi has one, etc...
Will any of these handle the castle nut on a rear axle? I'm leaning towards the Milwaukee since it appears to have the highest torque rating. Does anyone know if the torque setting on these is adjustable at all, or are they always going 100%? I need to buy or rent something with enough ass to take the rear suspension out of my 914. It would be nice to have something handy enoguh to use on steel lug nuts as well. I can't do air tools because I don't have enough space in my garage to hook up a suitable compressor. TIA |

You might be better off to buy a corded impact.

A long pipe is much less expensive.

Thanks guys. You saved me ~$300. Cheap 250ft. lb corded impact was more than enough for everything but the castle nut. I'll have someone with a bigger impact wrench zip those off for me since everything is already off the car now and I'll remember the cheater pipe/breaker bar technique for the reinstall :cheers

We have two Snap On cordless impact guns at the shop, so we hardly use the air guns now. I know it sounds dumb, but we can see a pretty good drop in the electricity bill, since we don't run the compressor. Plus, when I go junk yarding, or get to go change a flat in a parking lot somewhere, they make it REALLY nice. I see you have already bought a corded one, but if you see a cordless at a pawn shop, or craig's list, they really are one of those tools that you wonder how you lived without them.
