I'm offended this thread has gone on so long.

It is too small to be a porch anyway.

DanielDudley 09-05-2011 03:49 PM

It was a good Porch, a fine porch... Not as smooth riding as the porch on Campobello, but better handling in the twisties.

You might want to get new seals for that targa top though... :)

Porch or porch-a ?

when working for Ma Bell I was called a pole monkey. coulda been a shot at my masculinity but who cares?

Rick Lee 09-05-2011 04:29 PM

Ian should be banned for his room monkey threads.

Your PORCH looks great, and demonstrates your ideas. (And a very clean finished project) Your original thread title is fine. Your superintendent is excellent! Obviously, no harm was intended. Much, MUCH worse has been offered here.

Kudo's to you for taking the time to do what you wanted.

I have a few projects to complete before winter,....the beer is cold, meat is almost always on the menu.

Now that there is funny, now anyway.

That got old when that show was on.

Do you have a light there, or do you rely on light from the sliding glass door.

I put a solar light on my back porch, motion sensor, LED, much easier than actually wiring a light. It works pretty well.

Actually that's very true. The monkeys would have to be really small.

DARISC 09-05-2011 09:05 PM

I've learned two things from this thread:

(1) that expression, which I'd never heard before.

(2) if I ever get a pet monkey, to NEVER put it's cage out on the porch!

311, I think your porch turned out really well. It has great lines, and it will give you many years of service and pleasure.

And now is a good time to give it some more personality.

In honor of this thread, of course.

How about a little Bhudda on the back corner... or over in that planted bed?

Also, how about this guy painted on the wall beneath that light to the right of the door? You could make it look like his tail is curled around the base of the light.

It's all personal preference... just have fun with it. Curious George could show up for a visit, too.

Now you are just taunting us. French Dip. Obviously intended to insult....

Hugh R 09-06-2011 05:35 AM

French Dip, is that sort of like Sheep Dip?

Is that an insult to New Zealanders?

figured you may have experienced the same grief i did regarding that show.

there is a flood light just to the right of the upper slider frame area. there's power run to there and a switch just inside.

Fun fact: The name "French Dip" has nothing to do with France. It was named after a LAPD officer with the last name *French* who liked to dip his RB sandwich into onion soup. Two different restaurants in DT L.A. claim to have invented it, Phillipe's and Cole's. :)

Hugo930 09-06-2011 09:29 AM

Nice job! Is your trailer on a permanent foundation? I have some double wide rentals and would like to do as you did.

1990C4S 09-06-2011 01:17 PM

I assumed "French" and "dip" to be synonyms.

LOL. . .

I mean... THIS is Amazing that someone could just randomly pick that expression w/o having a clue to its meaning, never having heard it before. I mean, what are the chances? :D
