I would probably go with something by James Brown... probably "Get Up," but I love The Meters, too.
See if you can get some of these guys' stuff... Latin flavored funk... one of the tightest bands I've ever seen when they came through here over ten years ago. I heard Carlos Santana gave them a huge thumbs up. I don't think they're still together.
