I enjoyed Aruba. I went one week when they entire island was full, and we (unfortunately) rented a scooter because all of the cars were taken.

Don't rent a scooter. Don't rent a bike. The wind is vicious.

The locals were incredible friendly, and watching the very pretty island girl at the front desk of the hotel talk to 5 people in 5 languages at once is a trip.

The food is great there, because all of the water is ultra pure from the desalinization plant. It's also very expensive, because everything is flown to the island, it has no natural resources.

The local Amstel is also amazing, it tastes nothing like the Amstel we get shipped over here in crates, where it cooks and freezes and generally rots. The stuff there was made down the street with that pure water, and it's great.

I was there pre-murder days. I cannot know if it has changed anything.

If you want to buy Cuban cigars, ask your bartender where he goes. Most shops are closed on Sundays, so don't try to get them then.

Take the bus into Oranjestad if you get the chance, the town center is a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

Oh, and nude beaches with attractive Dutch girls.

And their grandmas. And grandpas. All hung out there for the world to enjoy.
