Ah,,,,,P&R in dating....no thanks.....I would rather hit the Cougar bars with a handful of Viagra.

Met my current gf on line. I had spent 2+ years with someone met through a mutual friend. It's just a way to meet people. I agree with Nostatic's process. The site I used is run by the local alternative newspaper and had a smaller but more interesting group of women who trended less soccer mom than Match.com which I'd used a bit before.

I wrote a thread about this a while back called duece and a half and the women who think they are average.

There are good ones and bad ones the world over. I find though, that culturally, I do get along better with Eastern European women. Of course, they are already over here in the US, no mail order.

This thread makes me laugh. Joe Bob, I say avoid all of it. Online dating? Blech! Dating in general? Blech! My plan? Make friends, have fun, do the things I love, and when I ain't looking, I'll find him and he'll find me. Doesn't sound like you are in a rush so just chill. All this questionnaire stuff and worrying about drinks/coffee vs going out makes my head spin. No thanks! Think I'll take my money and time and go find some nice slopes to snowboard down... Not that I am knocking o line dating and the people who do it. I have a ton of friends who are now married because of online dating. Just saying I am not going there unless I feel the need to speed up the process...

12own911 09-16-2011 02:13 PM

Yep. Both of you are great in your own way.

Dating on line is like anything else. If you do it well you can have a great time.

I've had some really cool dates and some that would curl a dead man's toes.

On the cool end I dated an heir to the Radison fortune. Four star hotels, private jets and black tie fund raisers. We dated for a while and the only draw back was her overly obsessive ex.

I also went on a date with a woman who wanted me to rescue her from her abusive boy friend, on the first date!!
After passing on that proposition, I left the restaurant only to find her in my Porsche when the valet brought my car around. I spied a Marie Calender's across the parking lot so we got some pie. From there we went straight to a local women's shelter.

You never know what you'll get but isn't that really what the road less traveled has to offer?
