				Copying Audio Files

I have two home-made audio CD's each with a dozen or so songs. Both of these CD's play just fine on my computer, and also play just fine on the CD player on my home stereo. And yet, when I try to copy songs from both CD's onto another CD, the songs from CD-1 will play, but the songs for CD-2 won't play. Upon closer examination in Explorer, the songs on CD-1 are file type "MP3 Format Sound" whereas the songs on CD-2 are file type "CD Audio Track." Again, both CD's play in my CD player. I want to make a third CD, with songs from both CD-1 and CD-2, but when I do this, the "CD Audio Track" songs don't play.

WTF? How can I copy these "CD Audio Track" songs so they are "MP3 Format Sound" files? Using the simplest of software, like Windows Explorer or something.

You could google search for an MP3 converter program, simple and free, I must have one at home, but i can't remember it's name right now. Then just copy/paste/convert/save...it's that easy.

I followed Scot's advice and got things converted to MP3. Now my problem is getting them copied to a CD in a particular order. I "copy" them from my computer file, then "paste" them onto the CD in Explorer, where they become "files to be copied to CD." Then when I tell the computer to copy, the order changes.

Explorer just sees the headers. Like Joe said.. you can't just copy/paste. CD's have to be ripped and burned or disk-to-disk imaged. Media player (ugh!) can do it but look and see if your CD drive (it is a burner right?) came with some software. Roxio or Nero are two common packages.

Supe don't give up, I'm sure we can find old copies of Milli Vanilli, Kenny G. and Justin Bieber elsewhere.

You guys never fail to be an excellent source for information. Not to mention humor, camaraderie and some other stuff that defies words.

Gogar is probably right. Windows may be trying to alphabetize. Doug, I think I have all the music I need from those artists but thanks anyway.
