I need to pick up a suit or two. I enjoy dressing up, and most likely will need one for my intended career...

And I already have like 6 ties from graduations and stuff.... They catch my eye in stores and I have to have them if I have an event coming up... |

I can tell you there's plenty of expensive suits that look horrendously bad. Maybe not quality wise, but design wise, I have no idea if the rich just has a different taste or it they were designed for the blind. I wish I can drop even $500 on a suit, but I can't. |

Wanna tell the difference immediately? Watch the pant leg when you walk - cheaper ones'll flap out like a flag, better ones stay put. Start looking around, you'll see it.

I've got no clue, maybe the cut or fabric? A snobbish friend told me this once, and it seems to hold up. Not to steal the thread, but where are you Steve?

Hart Shaffner Marx. Great suit for $500 (on sale @ Macys). You can spend a lot of $ on shirts , but i find lands end has great pinpoints.

With dual vents, you have the risk of sitting down and having the flap trapped up by the seat back, looks dorky and wrinkles. No vent looks sleek but is a bit restrictive.

Double breasted are very classy but buttoning them is a bit of an operation and they look dissolute when unbuttoned. In a hot climate, a lighter wool blend is okay. The more wool, the nicer it drapes. I wore 100% wool in SoCal, but it wasn't humid. On shirts. 100% cotton, pinpoint Oxford, medium starch (heavy on days you're really going into battle). But for traveling, a no-wrinkle shirt or two is a lifesaver. Does anyone wear suspenders anymore? I liked them a lot. Or vests? I liked those too. Yeah, I guess I used to dress like someone from the twenties, or maybe fifties. But the look is classic. Quote:

Disagree; what looks bad is an ill-fitting suit. Even an inexpensive suit can look good if it fits well.

I strongly discourage closet-diving for suits that one wore 15 years ago, and that now fit again because one has lost weight. No matter what one might think about the matter, double-breasted suits do not look good in 2011. Cheers d.

I've been happy with my suits for 200-300 bucks at Men's Wearhouse. Looks good to my eye.
