				I have a food question!

OK, we are hosting a football game watch "party" that is not like what you think. My 81 year old dad and his lady friend, another family friend couple that is about that same age are coming to watch the OU-UT game on Saturday.

We are all real fans of the game, and there will be no alcohol. We indeed watch every play and get a plate of food at half time in time for the game to start back up. We will have snacks like chips & nuts before and during the game. At most of the get together we have pizza. Nothing wrong with pizza but we are looking for something different this time. We want something easy to make & easy to eat from a tray in front of the TV. Pizza is the easy choice, but we want something different this time. I have thought about a lasagna. In the winter time we do chili, but it is still a little early for chili. What do you suggest?

Oven broil a mess of chicken wings. Marinate ahead of time & about 20 minutes to broil. Serve with white rice which takes about the same time.

BBQ meat balls simmering in a crock pot, paired with some frozen egg rolls that you just have to bake in the oven. Simple, and no work during the game.

This. Pork shoulder roast, bottle of commercial BBQ sauce of choice, juice of a few oranges, cook in crock pot until done, shred with a few forks.

I always liked the cheese queso too. Cook some sausage, like the Jimmy Dean stuff, pour off most of the grease, chop it up, can of rotel, brick of velveeta, melt in crock pot, dip for chips, pour it on your taco, Texas haute cuisine any dietary concerns, stuff they can't eat? get a can of whole jalapenoes, put on gloves, seed them and slice them lengthwise, fill with ceam cheese, wrap with bacon, tooth pick to hold it together, put under broiler to cook bacon, heats up cream cheese; careful, overindulgence will lead to severe ring of fire

Right now it looks like we will fall back to the easy to do crock pot chili.

With three of the six people in attendance over age 80, hot chili is not an option. I will be the youngest one there and I am 56. It's not quite like the parties in the movies or on TV We have all been there done that have the tee shirt and don't want to do it again. It is mostly an good excuse to share some quality time with my dad and some good family friends.

			chicken bacon wraps.

cut some chicken breast into 1" cubes and then wrap a 1/2 piece of low fat bacon around it using a toothpic to hold it together. in a plastic container mix up a 3:1 ratio of brown sugar (3) and chili powder (1). if you like spicy you can add come cayenne to it. thoroughly coat each piece and let it rest for a few minutes. while it is resting i usually line a baking tray with aluminum foil, then put a cookie cooling rack (mesh) over that (easier cleanup). place the pieces on the rack and back at 375 for 20-30 mins or until the chicken is fully cooked. people will go nuts for it, they always do.
