Thumbs up

I'm at the Octoberfast Club Race in Daytona, there are quite a few Pepper Wagons towing full tilt race cars this weekend. A buddy had these job of driving instructor for the familiarazation program, traveled all over the county. Before that, help to was skeptical about them, but after driving them, all help could says was DAMN..

Where is that video of the Pepper Wagon maneuvering around the truck that came over the centre divider?
I am pretty sure that a Chevy Tahoe wouldn't have been able to get out of the way.

If the Canadian base price for a Cayenne was the same as the US price I might consider one.
(base six cylinder, no frills)

Did anyone catch the Cayenne depreciating car segment on Adam Corolas show?

And the St Louis PCA is having another picnic at a cemetery, with a sales pitch.

I have never been to a local PCA event in almost four years of living here. They're having a breakfast event near my house in two weeks and I think I'm going, just for the thrill of throwing myself into a bunch of complete strangers and seeing if I can find a few new wrenching buddies. I see a an air-cooled 911 around here about once or twice a month, so I doubt there will be a lot of us there.

Rick,

I saw that. A guy spent $134,000 on a Cayenne Turbo in 2006 and they figured it was worth somewhere between $30-40,000 right now. That's $100,000 loss in five years - Ouch!

I would a 2006 Cayenne Turbo would have to be worth more than $40k today.

Manheim average auction for a 2006 Cayenne Turbo is currently $34K.

So a $40K guess for retail value is right, if not a little generous.

Manheim prices aren't terribly difficult to replicate in the market, so my guess is you could easily currently find a nice 06 Turbo for $35K (actual cash sales price, not asking price) in the papers, AutoTrader, eBay, etc..

Fair enough. That's just one more reason I will never, as long as I live, even if I win the Powerball, buy a new car. Someone else is always willing to eat the depreciation. I'm not.

So even that $34K 2006 still has room to fall.....

True.

These are the 924/944 of the future: At some point you'll come close totaling out the car with one major repair.

If you win the powerball? Uh, depreciation wouldn't really matter, would it?

Actually, doesn't matter to me at my age. I mean, I don't even buy green bananas...

But then, I don't buy $100,000 cars. Might if I won powerball, though.

My Bullitt Mustang, bought new, could have it's value plummet to zero, and I won't have lost as much as the guy buying a new 997 loses in the first year.

I don't really care about the price I paid for mine, or the deprecation. It's an appliance to me. I'll probably get the wife another one at some point, if that's what she wants again.

Shame I like the lines and interior of the 2011 so much better than the Gen I, that's really a value (cost of on-going maintenance notwithstanding). My brain says I should get an A3 TDi; my heart says Cayenne (and my prudence says stick with our XC90).

Just took our turbo pepper wagon for a few laps at the track on friday..... Plus it hauls all of our stuff to the track. Great vehicle, crappy mileage....

Uh, because i needed to haul the kids the dog the trailer and kayaks around....and it snows here. I needed a 4x4 that was fun to drive, and wasn't cheaply made crap. It was either a range rover or cayenne. Having owned two older land rover products i chose the pepper and Have no regrets.

If porsche didn't make the cayenne i suspect they would have been out of buiness by now.
