Our 10 year old Lexus has the the same system. Am I supposed to be impressed?

Well, besides the Tucker, when most of the high-end cars (Merc, BMW, etc) started coming out with the HID lights, they built in systems that would not only shine where you were steering, but would also compensate for the rear end of the car squatting.

A little more than a Tucker. I think some old Alfas had lights connected to the steering.

Something like that. Maybe not Alfa Romeo, but it's certainly not limited to Tucker and Citroen.

I'm sure it's great until you have to pay for it to be replaced.

BMW is really good at taking existing technology and making it incredibly expensive to service.

Yup, my 2002 Audi has self-levelling HIDs. The steering lights are nothing new either.

My 91 Maxima didn't have headlights that adjusted but, had side running lights that would illuminate brighter with the application of a turn signal. Added additional lighting to the are you were heading at the start of the turn.

Which I thought was a terrific idea. Haven't seen them in a long time. I think some Cadillacs had those too.

And mid to late 80's Corvette's, must have been a high end GM thing.

Oddly enough, they were offered as a factory accessory for a brief period in the mid-'90s on Honda Accords... although probably not a popular option judging by how deep in the Google search I had to go to find this picture:

I miss my Maxima,,,, Bloody brilliant car. I torture my daughters by telling them if I found another low mile 91 SE manual, I'd probably buy it..
