Best way to sell a watch??

I have a watch that I paid $11,000 for at Cartier in Manhattan about 5 years ago. I have the sales receipt, the boxes and all the accoutrements that came with it.
I'm tired of it and I'm tired of paying $100 a year to insure it (that's about $50 per wearing just for insurance) and I want to sell it. Is eBay really the best market, or is there someplace else I can get a better price out of it?

Be very careful selling it on ebay - lots of scammers. I've sold a couple of watches successfully for my dad on there. I would insist on only paypal for the money side of things and only ship to the confirmed address. Fully insure the shipment and require signature on arrival. If a potential buyer seems fishy then just assume they are a crook. Be sure and post lots of pics and show all the supporting docs/boxes etc for the watch.

timezone and watchuseek are probably the two better places to sell or buy for the matter

go for a walk in a bad neighbourhood, flash watch around, give it up fast when asked for.
recoup via insurance.

+1 for Timezone, but I believe they don't allow anything over $5k in their for sale forum. Good on you for holding onto the receipts, boxes, etc.

Why not wear it and drive down the $/day wearers fee. Nice watches are made to be worn like Porsches are made to be driven.

It wouldn't be a Cartier Privee French tank watch, by any chance?

I'll try to take a snapshot in the morning. Before I list it anywhere I want to take some time and take some good photos. Thanks.

Life changes. I don't have a lot of need to wear it now that I'm semi retired. I used to have meetings in Manhattan 3-4 times a year and wear my overalls with about the same frequency. These days I'm in my bibs 3-4 days a week and I haven't been to NYC in two years. Life is better now, and what does a guy mixing concrete and building fences need with an $11,000 watch?

Very nice watch! Picked mine up overseas years ago and love it, but then like the starter of this thread, there are not a lot of places to wear it!
