SAT test question

Just curious, say someone, (my son) scored good on two sections of the SAT but scored low on one, when he retakes the test, can he just take the one subject again, or does he have to take the whole thing over? i realize he cant sign up for just the one subject, but what if he only takes only the one part and then leaves? Will they count it or not? I know the test is graded in sections, but not sure if its totaled or not. We do have Choice Select option here where he can send in only the parts he wants from different tests if needed.

Anyone had to do this?

The way I remember it was that colleges receive your best score in each section (or else that is the only one they look at). So you can take it twice. If you take it too much it reflects a little poorly that you are not consitantly great and it costs more. Kind of depends on how poorly he did and in what section vs. what school and major he wants.

I took the ACT too and did better relatively in that than in the SAT, though I did well in that too.

I called the SAT about thus very question. The short answer is no, you have to take both parts, or it's tossed out.

The do have separate tests, but that didn't help us.

In our case, our daughter scored off the charts on writing and reading, but wanted to raise her math scores.

Back when I took the SAT and then the GRE, I took a brief course that offered strategies on test taking. I am sure things have changed, but my score increased by some serious percentages after the course. Highly recommended.

Yes it was. That was the first sentence.

Bottom line is take the test again, all the sections. Concentrate on the one he did bad in last time. The colleges should only look at the best score in each section.
