Such a loss. To the family and all friends my condolences.

Lisa definately made the most out of her life and everyone else in it with her is a better person because of it. She'll live on in memory (and on here) and in her kids. They all have a piece of her inside and together, with their father will get though this difficult time.

We have been overwhelmed with messages, emails and phone calls.

The last couple of weeks have been a bit like being on an out of control roller coaster. I am struggling to describe it any other way, everything has happened at what seems like the speed of sound.
It was only last week end, the two of us went to the local Bakery to get lunch and she walked into the shop with me. Who would have thought that in 24 hours she would be starting this free fall into Hospital and beyond.
If there is one thing Lisa has certainly done, is she left her mark on this World.

The kids have been really good with the whole ordeal, in fact they have risen beyond expectation. I am sure we will all, have our moments, but until now they have held up very well. For me, all the messages and phone calls have been very theraputic and given me much strength.
I know Lisa would have been very proud of Tom, Charlotte and Billy, as I am.
My job now is to try to get some normality back into our lives over the next few days.

We are asking people to donate as a tribute to Lisa to McGrath Foundation - Home or a similar organisation in your area to aid the research into Breast Cancer.

Thank you once again
Regards Mike Jacobson

Mike is a good man. But then, would Lisa have married anybody but a good man?
My thoughts are with him and the children...

Me too, Denis...me too. She gave me a lot of moral support when others were flaming me. The world lost a classy lady...

Same here. Really made me start thinking about things. I have far too many projects and just "crap around the house" that I have waiting to do in my life.

Maybe its time to start paring these down, enjoy what I have and start enjoying life a bit more...

Though of course I feel as though I know her, like many other people here we only correspond with or read their thoughts and accounts of their lives. She had so many attractive qualities as a human being; backbone, sense of humor, resourcefulness, great parent, lover of life, etc., etc...

I know that feeling Joe. I have started to simplify my life these past couple of years, and am going to continue to do so. There are some good books that will help you with this.

Here's a link with some basic advice:

Tom, Charlotte, Billy, and I all appreciate your thoughts and best wishes. We are just starting to get some normality back into our routine, the kids started back at school and work today.
I will be back to work Monday but probably with reduced hours for a while.
Again, thank you all so much for the support, it has been an invaluable help!

Spot-on.

I've been thinking about this a lot. I'm not getting any younger and time is precious and fleeting.

A co-worker of mine (guy whose office is literally right next to mine) started complaining about a pain in his shoulder three weeks ago. Went to the doc figuring he'd get a cortizone shot. They found a cancerous growth. He went out of work two weeks ago and hasn't been back. Got word last week he had emergency gall bladder surgery and then the bomb got dropped yesterday - he's not coming back at all. They've discontinued treatment and he's been sent home under hospice care with two weeks to live at the outside. He's only 59 and has three kids. A few "old timers" who are good friends with him in the office went to go visit him Wednesday night and were pretty distraught yesterday.

Unreal.

Super nice guy too - he helped ground me somewhat as I can get pretty passionate at times. His approach was always to be super laid back and deflect the confrontations, and I admired that. He's one of those guys who was never loud or aggressive, always smooth and led a pretty simple, happy life. It always seems to happen to the good people - never the jerks who deserve it. I really feel for his family.

Life is way, way too short to be consumed by minutia. Any one of us could find out at any moment we've got three weeks, or four, or maybe no warning at all.

Mike

Keep a copy of this thread for the kids to read one day - it will easily show how much she was admired and respected by all her friends around the world.

We all will miss her and many of us are thinking of you all each day.

Take care and best wishes to you all.

Tim

All the best to you and your family Mike. Lisa will be missed by all of us. Sorry if my earlier post seemed like a hijack - not intended, just a reflection on how fragile and precious life is, as Lisa (and now my co-worker Alan) remind us. Unbelievable how quickly this stuff can come on and change lives forever.

Cheers and all the best - best wishes and prayers sent your way.
