I hope this goes viral enough so this dumb a$$ gets in some serious trouble. Anybody else gets popped doing in excess of 120 and we loose our license. Are cops really above the law?

In Oregon, going over 100 on any road is a minimum $2,000 fine, loss of license for at least 30 days, and at the officer's discretion, a night in jail. Oh, and possible confiscation of the car.

Of course, this rule may not apply to cops, judges, or U of O football stars...

He got off damned easy! No jail, plus fine was less than $2,000...much less, tho I can't recall the exact amount.

I figure it's a shame the Oregon State cop didn't have the balls that this Florida lady cop had.

Professional courtesy is something you give. Its not something you take.

Taking in this case is speeding on her highway. Not respectful at all.

Once she lit him up and he didn't pull over, he was toast. Good for her.

What he should have done, it works well, is anticipated an off ramp, continued passing cars in the fast land, then swing across (with an OK safety margin for yourself) in front of the cars you have just passed while braking and take the offramp. There is no way the pursing vehicle can get around the cars, brake, and take the offramp.

you know, i did exactly that when i was a teenager and being chased by some hoodlums. it worked as planned. we watched as they tried to back their car down the on-ramp, then we took off to 'parts unknown' in west bountiful. it worked like a charm.

let's see...marked cruiser without lights or sirens speeding excessively and endangering the public. i think FHP officer was RIGHT to pull gun. she had no way of knowing who was at the wheel of the police cruiser and with what intentions.

doing 120mph to get to off-duty job seems like a horrible excuse, even for a cop.

what's worse, especially coming from our crowd, is that this trained police officer did not have the situational awareness that there was flashing blue lights and a siren behind him.

thanks. at the time, i was in no shape for a fight (chemotherapy and such). i was crapping bricks and put the plan together on the fly. i was driving a '66 mustang with the 6 cyl, so max speed at this altitude was about 95MPH. they were in a mustang, too, go figure....

Yeah I just saw that on Fox News......I'm not surprised at all. If they had taken any disciplinary action - FHP's actions would have been validated.

Can't have that now can we?

Typical law enforcement buddy-buddy BS. Funny thing is - stuff like this adds to the erosion of the public's support of law enforcement so they're shooting themselves in their own foot.

I routinely see cops cruising in the left lane doing 80-85 (no emergency lights), tailgating and even weaving in/out of lanes.

We've become Soviet Russia.
Ever seen a cop make a full stop at a stop sign or turning right on a red? They drive the way they want and the way we would.
