When I was a junior in high school, there was a guy two years older than me that had two 69 AMX's and a 67-68 Shelby. Cool cars back in '75 to see.

You are a good solid man to think of something like this for your father, truly all heart.

This ones at the top of your range but it looks like a nice example for the money-
original sales documents, looks clean in and out.

The best advice anyone can give for buying a classic car is to buy the nicest example you can afford if all you want to do is tinker. I consider a daily driver like the example below to be ready for tinkering and low on discouragement. Well in pictures and description at least.

AMC | eBay

Sooper,
Thanks for the kind words and for the link. That car looks like it would be the ideal candidate.
I certainly will be watching that auction.

Unfortunately the car is no longer for sale...

Good hunting!

He said he's looking for an AMX, not a Javelin. Huge difference.

Thanks for all the help and for keeping an eye out. Keep the ads and leads coming.

I restored and gave my father a 1956 Cushman Eagle scooter a few years ago as a X-mas gift. He had dreamed of owning one as a teen in the 50's. He still tells everyone he meets who will listen the story of how I suprised him with it. If the AMX was your dad's "dream car" when he was young, I am sure he will really treasure the gift like my father did/does his Cushman.

Tim, thanks for the post and inspiration! Even brought a tear to my eye reading it as I know my father would ahve the same response.
This just seems like something that I HAVE to do.

Thank you again, Jeremy

I have actually been in that factory some years back - it was closed down, empty and anbandoned but you could still see the imprint of the AMC logo on the building. For me very cool

What a great idea and a good son.

Can I adopt U? I like old XKE's?

I always want the AMC Eagle AWD for a snow car.
