Wtb 68-70 amx

OK guys I was not sure where to post this on Pelican (and besides heading to the obvious AMC forums) but thought I would see if you guys had any leads.

My father, the work-a-holic is "planning" on retiring next year and I would really love to find him 68-70 AMX as a retirement gift. In his late teens early 20s he worked for AMC here in Milwaukee and has always told me how much he loved these cars. I will try to keep the story short, but I have to say I could not have asked for better parents as they have had to endure alot of hardships, sacrifices, and long hours in order to provide a good home for me and my siblings.
I know that he does not have the extra funds to purchase one himself (I have a much younger sis in college), so I thought this would be one way that I could show my never ending thanks for the things he has done.

I am not looking for a show car as this would also be something for him to tinker on and drive around with all of the newly acquired fee time.

Let me know if you have any leads.

As aways, thank you all for your help. J.

congrats to dad!!

you serious about the AMX? he wants one?

i always thought AMC had two separate design departments. one to design the front of the car, one to design the back. the two departments were not allowed to talk to each other.

you sound like a great son. i'll keep my eye out. there were tons of them in el paso.

Thanks for the link. There are plenty of those cars floating around, but was hoping to find a solid one for about 1/3 to 1/2 that amount.

Wow, brings back memories of grey/silver ones (with one huge blue bubblegum beacon on top) operated by the Alabama State Troopers.

Do it, a 69 with Go Package was to be my second car.

Night before I was supposed to do the deal with PO we got a freak snow storm so had to delay another day.

PO left the car on the street and a snowplow took out the whole drivers side.

What a shame.

What a great gesture.

Please post a follow up if you are able to find one and deliver it. Also be sure to clear it with mom, if she ain't happy no one is happy.

I helped a friend swap a manual tranny into a '69 AMX when I was in hgih school. Way cool cars. Handled pretty decently as well.

My uncle had an AMX with a 390 and 4 speed. It was really good at doing burn-outs. Not much else ........

I have a buddy with a VERY nice AMX in Portland. He is an AMC nut. I don't know if it is for sale but I can ask. Send me a PM. This will be on the very high end of AMC values. It is spectacular.

Sorry, Mark Donohue drove a 1971 AMC Javalin, not a AMX. In later years, AMC combined the names so they didn't have to build two cars.
