Just watched a funeral procession for a fallen Marine.
I'm in Dothan AL and a funeral procession for a 22 year old Marine was going by the motel. I waited with several hundred flag waving people. Very sad.
Just as sad was how it was turned into a motorcycle parade of 150 posers with their bikes and trikes all decked out with flags. Stars and stripes, MIA, Confederate, and Marine flags. Revving their engines, dressed like it a Toys For Tots ride. Plus 50 LEO cars/SUVs with lights flashing. There was one van with Marines in it, must have been the color guard. It should have been a quite respectful passing. Not a "look-at-us" parade.

I guess it all depends on the wishes and lifestyle of the fallen Marine. Upon my demise, if anyone comes upon the funeral, I hope they think that they've walked in on a massive party not a somber, sad occasion. Zumwohl!!

Patriot Guard Riders You probably saw the Patriot Guard Riders. They only show up on invitation of the family. Sad to see fallen comrades. |

You were lucky not to see the Westboro baptist church aholes... Around here they are almost guaranteed to show up to a military funeral. Hence the large turnout of bikers that form a big perimeter now.

RIP to the young marine, and prayers for his family.
There's not much that's more moving than taps followed by the 21 gun salute. Sends chills down my spine just thinking about it. The guys were just showing their support in the way they do it. Not everyone shows support in the same way.

These scum need a 2 X 4 up side the head, then pointed in the direction of the closest bus heading home. They have no place being at any funeral.

It's a free country, but I have a hard time maintaining the high ground when I hear about the crap that they pull.

All the Patriot Guard Riders I've met while in the service are veterans. Don't bash people you obviously know nothing about. They are far from "posers". |

Although not all of the members in our local chapter are veterans. It is not a requirement. When a firefighter dies in the line of duty, we have firefighters from all over the country show up, and take part in the proccession. I guess that is a "look-at-us" thing also?? ![]()

I have always been a wierdo. I really don't want anyone I do not know come to my funeral, vet, service men, or not. It should be family and friends only. That's just the twisted bitter old me.
