The one I gave you may have been USA made...glad it's giving you good service. The replacement I bought is probably Chinese made...that may explain some of the problems people are having?

when he needs a charger, he unplugges it and and uses it on the dead battery. when done he puts it back onto the hotrod and plugs it back into his garage door opener.

this only works with an active garage door. his wife is always coming and going. it works perfectly. i would do this, but my garage door lightbulb circuit is not functioning.
A regular $8 outlet timer does the same thing and is wife-independent. Noah, it can share the same AC circuit as your portable defribrillator pack or EKG machine in the garage, yes?

I too use a HF battery maintainer. Seems like HF uses several sources for them. The one I have (NLA) is a 3x6x2" olive green rectangular box with a recessed jack to plug in a 110V extension cord. Thus far, has worked fine for about 4 years (about $12).

Garage
I have used the same Battery Tender for 5 years on my airplane, 28v unit, no problems at all.

I do like the garage door light idea though.
