Where to find cheap eats on the Vegas strip?

These are desperate times, money is tight... but I work hard and sometimes you just have to get away for a few days.

The Quad (formerly the Imperial Palace) has rooms for $20 + $15 'resort fee' (yes, I know it is a dump) but hard to beat staying on the Vegas strip four days for $150 total tax and fees covered (across the street from Caesars). In the spirit of low-balling it... anyone have suggestions on inexpensive food in that area? TIA

In-n-Out just off the strip, but being from Cali, it's probably not the treat some of my east coast fans think it is.

Couple of the hotels on the strip have food courts but even they are move expensive than their counterparts off the strip. I always rent a car in Vegas because it's cheap and the savings by going off strip for meals more than makes up the cost of the rental.

I say just hit up the buffets for lunch. If you stuff yourself, you only need to eat once. It will be pretty hard to have a super cheap Vegas vacation though

Found a few sit down coffee shop type places in our hotel and within walking distance, (hash house a go go, Ellis island) not super cheap ($15-$20) but super large portions so we could split a plate, a few Mexican places near, and of course the food courts.

We love In-and-Out but have one right here in San Pedro... might splurge and walk down to Margaritaville for a burger one afternoon.

Find a Chinese buffet! They're usually around $10 a person all you can eat. Our favorite was upstairs in the Polynesian Cultural courtyard on the south end of the strip. Haven't been there for years and not sure if its still there, but they're probably errrywhere.

I know Vegas is the Mecca of debauchery (ask me how I know)... however stuffing yourself with one gigantic meal to get through the day is extremely unhealthy... especially at our age (over 50). Funny how everyone thinks Vegas is only for high rollers only.... thirty years ago the place was all about cheap room/food/entertainment (so you would spend all your money in the casino). There is some Hawaiian/Polynesian market place... we will have to check it out... If you go down to old Vegas (Fremont street) it is still pretty inexpensive... but we did that last time and I wanted my wife to see the strip this time out.

Yep, that is on the must do list... all the reviews say the portions are HUGE so we can save a few bucks by splitting a plate.

Go get some real Chinese food around Spring Mountain Rd. It's reasonable priced and there are a few amazing places there. The Egg & I on W. Sahara is a super breakfast place. I will never stay or eat on the Strip again.

Would be illegal north of the border since you have no choice, they would have to be included in the basic room price not in the small print. Luxor got a $22 a day "resort fee" and they do not have a real pool or Wifi in the room ![]() ![]() Some Fuxken resort!

I was being a bit facetious about the buffets as the last time I was in Vegas we hit up a few for lunch and I never felt very hungry at dinner. I don't think they are a bargain or anything but the better ones are a reasonable value In the context of being tourist type place.

I don't like to gamble but I like Vegas a lot. I don't think you need to be a high roller at all but most of the things I like I'm Vegas cost a bit. Shows, canyon tours, etc

That's where Mikey and Trent eat at. It looks almost exactly the same as it did when the movie was filmed almost 20 years ago. Last time I went it was 6 bucks.

The hands down best one is called Yunnan Garden on Schiff Pl., which is more like a loading dock off Spring Mtn. Rd. You have to know where it is. In the front of the shopping center are a few decent ones upstairs. I think one is called Spicy City, but it's not the same as the one in Irvine or San Diego. The dim sum place in the same shopping center is called Harbor Place and it's hit or miss. The best dim sum place there is way up W. Sahara and called Orchids Garden. Jriera will know all the others. His wife is from China. There are some more really good Sichuan places farther up Spring Mtn. Rd, like a few miles up. You pretty much have to be with a Chinese person to find them and know what to order, though.

Just make sure to have a plan for transportation back. Cabs don't wait there and will take 45 minutes if called.
