I stand corrected on the pool statement. I rely on wife comments from YouTube that mentionned "wadding pools".

As for the Wifi (limited to the lobby), I guess one could go to McDonald...

The whole point is that the Resort Fee is a rip off that did not exist a few years ago.

I remember less then 5 years ago getting a fridge for free, its now $30 a day.

From their web page:

Luxor has created an oasis just for you featuring four large sections of pool area totaling 19,000 square feet. The pool deck at Luxor is one of the largest in Las Vegas with 125,650 square-feet of space. Register with our attendants for complimentary towels, lounge chairs and enjoy the personal service of our poolside beverage attendants.

Aside from Jerry Nugget's they are NO cheap eats on The Strip (aka Las Vegas Blvd) anymore, aside from the McDonalds, Burger King and such of course.

If you have wheels I can point you to several places off-Strip (everything in Vegas is 15 minutes away) with a wide selection of different types of food in the $10 range; Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, etc.

Regarding 'resort fee' ... yep, never was there before ... neither was rooms at $20 ... pay now or pay later ...

I can remember when you couldn't get a room on the strip for less than $200. Things are dirt cheap right now.

I think the casinos have modified their business model over the years. They have come to realize that they can capture more money from a wider variety of people with their current approach.

I stayed at the Imperial Palace once and will never do so again, not if they paid me. Their elevators were totally inadequate for the number of guests they had. The line at check in took about 90 min. and we were never once able to take an elevator down, as they were always totally full when they stopped on our floor. I mean not once. We took the stairs down every single time. I like taking the stairs usually. But 12 flights with luggage on the way out was a PITA.

The no Wi-Fi thing is intentional on their part......If you are in your room on the WWW, you and not spending money in their Casino.......Sad...

Scott,

Like Rick said, Spring Mt Rd is where we stop if we are just going through Vegas on a road trip and want something easy and cheap or to go instead of Burger King and such. There will plenty of those crap up ahead. My wife love Lee's Sandwich. I believe its Vietnamese with French influence. There are a few of those noodle places in the same strip mall. They are quick, cheap and not heavy like a big buffet meal.

Oh, if you want to people watch then go to Margaritaville. That place is always packed and if you get a seat there are plenty of young women shaking their ass with short tight skirts walking down the strip. On spring Mt Road, all you get are the local folks going about their business. Pull up eat and go. At the strip, it will take you 1/2 hour just to pull up, find parking and walk 3 miles to the eating place and wait. Fook that.

I used to get the steak and eggs breakfast at the Pioneer. It was an awesome steak and a killer deal.

Jerry's Nugget is good for prime rib and most of all, the dessert. Ellis Island is good and fairly inexpensive. Ask for their specials as I do not think they always advertise them.

The Luxor's resort fee includes wired internet in the room. When I stayed there last year for SHOT show, I bought a wireless router, plugged it in and had wireless internet.

Get a beer or two from Sin City Brewing Company.

Depends on what era you are talking, back in the day I booked suites at the Flamingo and Desert Inn for under $100 (dating myself).

Yes, the resort fee sucks, when booking online 90% of the places will show the resort fee. However even worse is it is not standardized, runs from $6 to over $20.

Yes, where we are staying sucks (Imperial Palace now the Quad) we expect a dumpy room and slow check in... but hey, when you shop at wallmart you don't expect stellar service (I have stayed at the IP before). I expect to be standing in line a lot on this vacation because most places with reasonable prices their reviews start with "be prepared to wait".

We are driving out from Lost Angeles so we will have a car.

Thanks for the replies!

This has me thinking.....I haven't been to Vegas for 8 years. Last time was to pick up my 911!!!!That was a special trip!!! We stayed at the "Paris" I think it was called? big balloon thingy and a mini Eiffel tower. Found the room on line for under $120.00 a night and found most meals affordable. Air fare was pretty cheap as well........maybe a weekend get away is in order!

I've only ever eaten in the food courts in between the pool, casino, and club. Definitely cheap.
