The Flag is out front, I spent my moment of silent remembrance, and sadly , again making preparation to escort another fallen hero to his final resting place.

Had lunch at Applebee's with my 85 year old WWII vet friend, then went with my mother to her Dr for some bad news. On my way home, I stopped at our local Stroh's Ice Cream shop and they saw my jacket, asked if I was a vet, then said "your money's no good here today" and I got free ice cream. It was a bittersweet day, considering that my mother is having a very serious operation next Thursday, but that's life, I guess...

Here in Canada it is called Remembrance Day - National holiday for everyone.

I will be out of town but I would normally be marching with our veterans down main street to the cenotaph. The crowd that comes out is always terrific - excellent support for our veterans.

Not in Ontario. Only thing closed are banks, government offices, and the post office.

I took the day off and went down to City Hall for the Rememberance day ceremony.

Thank you to all in the military past and present.

Art; Glad that you could get out with your WW 2 friend. Those few that are still with us won't be for too long, so its good to hang with while we can.
And its good that you got some strokes today also.
Tough news about your Mom, Heres hoping all the best for her. I'm sure you will be there to give all the support you can.

All the best
Richard

veteran's day

Thanks Seahawk, and to you as well. I went to a coffee shop on Friday, went to the counter to pay, the woman asked if I was a vet, and I said yes, she said coffee is on us, thanks for your service. What an unexpected surprise. Made my day...

I'll be out "here" TDY > in Qatar [Al Udied AB] at CENTCOM [Forward] headquarters we worked all day 11NOV - have two wars on and multiple communications issues to fix so we can better support the warfighter.
