L.A. is one big auto show

Just parking in a pay lot and noticed this heap a couple of spots down. The L.A. auto show opens in a couple days and I'll probably go but seriously you can see most of the hardware just parked on the street here. Some guys on another thread were knocking this thing, saying that it doesn't look like a Benz, etc... I think that they are badass to the core in real life, (as opposed to photos), there is also a silver one on the block where I'm working in Venice this week. It looks smoking next to a post-modern house.

Looks badass to me too...I always thought the Mercedes 2 seaters were "sports cars for old men". I now age qualify...

Yeah, that picture makes it look like it's in the hood but it's really just parked behind some restaurants and shops in my part of town. Decent neighborhood.

Paul, that may be so but this one was bought by a young 'un. The owner walked up while I was taking these pics, he was cool...young rocker/hipster type w/ a knit cap. The car was *brand spanking new*. He said it was awesome. Bastard.

Only the driver.

I love the way that they're eating Sam's bagels and drinking coffee in the car. He doesn't give a fk...

I love those cars, saw one on Ventura Blvd this weekend. I'm going to the Auto Show Friday after turkey day. Want to see the concept cars, Audi A7, Toyota FT-86, etc.

Haven't been in a few years, last time it was tough getting near the cars to look at them with all the ricer/tuners wanting their pics taken with their friends cellphones while sitting behind the wheel. Hope they've found a way to "curb" the posers. OBTW, the owner looks hip, hopefully appreciates what he is driving.

Did you notice the dudes clown shoes? No heal-and-toe driving with those bad boys.

Yeah! what a dork he is for driving that car all you guys want. Must be really lucky or have rich parents or something.

Maybe you guys would feel better if he were in his mid-50's, sportin' some Pilotis and a fake submariner, all hopped up on Lipitor and Viagra, drinkin' decaf. Would you feel better?

I keed, I keed.

The spoiled rich kid doesn't have enough cupholders in his AMG, he should obviously give it to me.

I drooled on one of those at the local dealership, they have a presence that pictures don't adequately portray. Awesome cars.....

He was out in public so...fair game. As opposed to inside of a house. Also, he knew I was taking his picture and didn't mind. I know this because I asked first. As opposed to ambushing him.

I actually appreciate the humor of your post, (I really do), but I think that you still don't understand the concept of when it's ok to post someone's picture on the web and when it isn't. Oh well...

I'd bet anything that his money is from music publishing. That is a common source of FU $$$ around these parts and required the re-training of many stupid car salesmen over the years here when they lost a Home Run/Grand Slam commission because they ignored guys that look like this in the Mercedes/Porsche/Lambo/etc. showroom.

BTW, how much do these schitboxes run?

EDIT: Nevermind, looked it up...only $180k? Thought they were more. That's the same as a loaded S600 or an SL65, etc...

I think you mean heel and toe? Just guessing...they only come w/ two pedals so unless you're an amputee there is no reason to H&T.

SLS is an automatic. No heel and toe possible with any shoes.

I spent about 20 minutes wandering around one at MBZ of OKC. They are absolutely stunning in person.

Curiosity question, Denis... were these guys a few inches over 6' tall? Just wondering because I assume those gullwings are open as far as they will go and it looks kinda goofy they had to duck under 'em to get in. Know what I mean?

I'd love to hear that thing wind out.

LOOK! Calipers that don't scream, "LOOK AT ME!" Love it.

yeah, they are surprisingly not as much as most think.

Other mercedes, like an AMG CL, are more than most think. AMG CL and SL look so common (and are common in a lot of areas), but they are well into the $100,000s.

SLS isn't much more, but looks like a million bucks.
