A toss-up between the 1969 Corvette and the 1967 Camaro Convertable.

Prolly go with the 'Vette because of the 4-speed manual tranny. Camaro had a slushbox.

Damn, I have to sit and think about this one.

Might be the '65 Corvette black coupe or the '57 white one. They'd both be worth a pile of money. So would the '61 VW Single cab transporter.

But to keep and drive around occasionally, probably my '36 MG SA Saloon.

But, I'd probably sell each and every one again, so no real regrets.

About the only car I've lusted for that I never had is a V12 Ferrari with Borani's. Looks like that part of the bucket list will go unfulfilled.

the OP suggests just one car, so, like Paul/Seahawk...

71 BMW 2002, sunroof, beige with tan interior, tho I really like the green 2002s better.

I had a Bay Window Bus (see Byron's post above) but my Vanagon Westy is better than that and a Splittie is too primitive and too expensive.

I had a Pontiac GTO Rocket Sled (see Paul's post above) but mine did not have Tri-Power tho the soft bumper on it was interesting. I did like the turquoise blue paint job and the ability to drain the fuel so fast that you could see the gas needle move while on a single joy ride. The suspension was really primitive and my current 911 is faster, so the Goat is out.

various Japanese cars... nah - the RX-7 turbo did have a nice surge to it, but I am not a fan of turbo lag. My 911 is a lot "closer to the road" in terms of feel.

The Boxster S - now there is a contender. But, I will soon replace that roadster with the new VW/Audi/Porsche roadster, which (i hope) will be smaller, less expensive, and have a newer vintage chassis.

The Toybota 4-flusher had better off-road ability than my current Sube Forester, but was a lot rougher and less capable on the highway.

Having duly considered all the evidence... BMW 2002.

Yup.

I'm looking for two cars: A 2002 round eye and a Targa, pre 74. Makes me happy.

I also had a 68 Bus among other tin. It was nice to look for and own cars in the 70's/80's.

Oh Haha 11-20-2011 03:08 PM

My first car, a 1966 Corvair. My dad had purchased it for himself to fix up but never got around to it.

When I got my first job, he gave it to me so I could get to work. It wasn't pretty but it ran well until I smoked the automatic transmission doing burnouts.

Yeah, I was pretty darn reckless. :(

He ended up selling it to a neighbor and I saw it in a junkyard a few years later. It had been broadsided by something rather large.

I would restore it and enjoy driving it on nice days.

strupgolf 11-20-2011 05:03 PM

Both of my 1969 Camaro Z-28's. They were both mint, IMO, but so harsh and loud and just nuts and bolts. But boy did they go like hell. My 1070 Buick Gran Sport 455 Stage 1, with A/C, convertible, also mint shape, was smooth and quiet at times, but it was the gentlemen's muscle car.

DanielDudley 11-20-2011 05:45 PM

I'd buy this one back in a heartbeat.

I driven an Aston and Jag but I keep coming back to this car...

Meanwhile my daily serves me very well and my SC is still a blast to drive. I don't envy anyone when I'm in either car.

I'd would love to have my '65 bug back. I came out one Sunday morning to find it had been stolen. It was really my all time favorite car. I completely replaced the interior, had it painted, put some nice wheels & Michelins on it. Had a balanced 1776 to go into it (car got stolen before I put that in). I don't know why it's my favorite. Maybe it was getting into it on a sunny morning, cranking the sunroof open and just feeling good. I've had Austin Healeys, an MGA, & a TR3 (second favorite) as well as other cars, but that little VW is the one I'd really like to have back.

I've had 3 performance cars in my life. My C6 chevette, my '67 fastback mustang ( founfd the issue of Grassroots motorsports that it was in back in '05 today)

But the car that I miss more than the mustang?

In '84~87 I had a 1966 Fairlane GT with a 390 bigblock and a ford toploader 4 spd. The day my Dad and I brought it home my Mom looked at the car and said that it looked like it had seen a few street drag races in it's day.

I lost it to a drunk off duty cop @ 7 in the MORNING!

Hard-Deck 11-21-2011 03:49 AM

1983 Volvo 850...donated to Kidney Foundation. A good cause but I miss it.
1967 sunroof VW Type 1
