wiper blade stutter

I hate noise from my wipers or any noise for that matter that isn't part of the way things should work, like squeaks and rattles. Got the 930 3 years ago and changed all the wipers for new , since then I got caught in the rain at highway speed about 2 1/2 years ago and no noise, got caught a couple of days ago and the stuttering was rattling my filings, windsheild was wet and driving speed was slow but the blades stuttered badly. Are my blades shot? Car is kept inside in a heated garage and the blades are basically new, I've clay-barred my glass (does a super job BTW ) then just regular washing but no Rain-X or similar products. Am I missing something here guys? What do you do for stuttering wipers?

Rubber has hardened and there is also some buildup on the glass. If you run them a little they could soften but you should just replace them with soft fresh rubber.

You can also try cleaning the rubber blades with a rag dipped in rubbing alcohol. They may have stuff stuck to them and/or oxidation causing them to not move smoothly over the glass. I read about this somewhere and it does seem to help a bit.

remove the blades and shoot them with silicone. Believe me that will fix it.

Clean the glass, and then Rain-X it. Use the rag you applied the Rain-X with the wipe the blades after you're done. It can be a bit frustrating as you will probably have a haze on the glass but keep buffing it out. If needed, spritz a bit of water on and then buff. The plus is you probably won't HAVE to use your wipers thereby eliminating the stuttering.

I don't drive my SC in the rain but our daily drivers get a regular treatment of Rain-X.

I also use my orbital buffer to go over the glass when removing wax from the cars. I rarely use my wipers as the water beads up and dissipates quickly.

WD-40 on the windshield. About 1/3 of a can will be enough.

Start by cleaning the windshield with a non abrasive kitchen cleaner like BonAmi or Bar Keepers Friend. Then get a set of quality wiper blades. Bosch Excel, if you can still find them. I now absolutely love the PIAA blaldes.

3 year old wiper blades? Come on, those things are hardened up from just sitting there. Buy some new ones. I change mine out every year.
