do you remember Atari 2600?

well this weekend me and my girlfriend went antique shopping. after seeing a atari flashback system, i wanted to find a real atari system. well after visiting a few stores low and behold i found a atari 2600 with about 7 games. two controllers and the paddle controllers.

now i am looking for a few games. does anyone still have atari system at home? if so post your pics of your system. if you want to get rid of a few games i might be interested...

Got one in my closet. It's what I had, as a kid. From time to time I break it out and play a couple games with my kids. They're a bit young to be doing X-box or Playstation, yet. The Atari, with its simple graphics, plot, and controls is just about right for them.

A few years ago I went crazy going to thrift stores and flea markets looking for classic 80's video game systems. I picked up a couple of Colecovisions, Intellivisions, and various Ataris, They are all great fun!

These days the best place to find cartridges is Ebay. I'll dig around to see if I have any duplicates for you if you'd like ?

Take care,
-Michael

It's not even close to the same experience.

I had one. I was 6 or 7 when we got it in 1982.

Nintendo came out a couple of years later, and was just SO much better,

I can still play Nintendo and enjoy it. Atari,....not so much.

that said, I liked Adventure, Yars revenge, Pitfall, all that stuff.

youtube has a bunch of good nostalgic reviews.

Yeah, we had one, who didn't. I believe that you can buy a joystick that plugs directly into your TV and has a bunch of the original games built into the joystick.

Yeah--still have the sears-branded knock-off console, controllers, everything. I remember saving for weeks to buy "pac-man" which was 40 bucks. Even though it was not anything like the arcade version, I used to "flip" it all the time. Still have:
Pitfall
Stampede
Robot Tank
Target Fun
Olympics
Pac-Man
Frogger
Adventure
Yar's Revenge
Warlords
Asteroids

I used to plat Pitfall and Yars Revenge so much I would wear out the controller in a few months. I miss my 2600. The Select switch used to break on the original (big) ones I had. I'd end up using a paper clip until I could convince my parents to buy a new one.

A little before my time, but I still remember playing it. I was 7 when the NES came out, so I didn't really have the skill/coordination to play the 2600 very well.

I have a friend who makes a pretty good second income selling vintage video games on eBay. That's where I'd suggest looking for more games.

I agree, but its a LOT closer than you think... Sounds and graphics are all the same, just some controls are different.

Great times. I was the little kid watching the old kids plat Pitfall, best game ever. I've tried the emulators but they arent quite the same.

Funny how much better Nintendo was yet it's a POS now. I spend many, many hours playing Punchout and Contra.
