The SNAFU was "repaired". While I agree having 2 filters so the water is always filtered is a good idea, I don't think it's necessary here. It's in use 24/7 and a filter change takes less than 10 minutes. Besides, this water is not normally filtered by us so I feel that puts us ahead in the proactive category.

Boy I know that old plumbing song , been there- done that. Because of a mistake I was given a brand new 30 gal heater. I had just installed a new 50 gal at my house so I decided to install the 30 gal at my rental. The old heater there was 20 years old and I figured that I would avoid an emergency and replace it on my schedual and at minamal cost. I convinced my son that it was good training for him to learn to do the job, loaded up the heater and tools and got to it. The first piece of galvanized pipe I put the wrench to crumbled into dust. The next pipe broke off inside the wall. I had my son { knowing I might have to go under the house is why I brought him} go under the house to see whats up and he came out covered in mud and reported that every joint in the old gal pipe is rusted and leaking. At that point I called the plumber and had them repipe the whole house in copper at a cost of $3000.00 { so much for the minamal cost}. My tenant was nice and didn't charge me to stay at a hotel while the work was done. I now have a plumber on speed dial for repairs at my rental.
