As a kid I watched Smoky and the Bandit way too many times. It's cool in a weird sorta way, but not $20k+ cool.

Nice to know that at least one person here has it figured out...

My best friend had the 1977 Bandit T/A back in 1982.

We spent many hours in that car pretending to be cool. Well, he was because he sort of looked like Burt Reynolds and was popular. I was a dorky 9th grader.

It wasn't that fast but we had loads of fun.

Yep...by the time the '79 Trans Am came along...the performance was gone. It was a dark period...

Fascinating car. One showed up at our autocrosses every month and did pretty well. Lot's of smoke and noise. If I had one I'd keep a Waylon Jennings tape in the cassette deck and find a way to make it smell like bourbon and seegars. Prolly couldn't afford the gas to actually drive it.

My friend drove his later model Trans Am on the Tail of the Dragon a few years ago with me and I was surprised at how well the car handled.

I've always preferred this front end to the one in the original post.

I'd prefer this one though
