New espresso machine.

Rancilio Silvia Already hacked it with Auber PID temperature control unit Keeps boiler temperature within 1 degree of your setting Lets you program in shot length and set a 'precharge' of water to soak the expresso for extracting It prevents water from jetting through the espresso I'm sorry I would put in punctuation but I've had like 15 shots of espresso today and punctuation would hold me back Did you know that chaffer dishes the kind you use at catering events actually share a name with chauffer like the guys that drive you around You see the French root of the word is.........

If it doesn't come with a cute barista to operate it, I'm not interested....

Congrats! That looks pretty awesome.

208 is a little bit hot, though. ( I had to say something condescending, this is Pelican.)

A buddy is a big fan of these. He also understands every function of the components and has maintenance kits, and like you does tweeks.

Me? I haven't got a clue what my VBM does, other than makes good coffee.

Well done. Enjoy

Cool.... I always wanted one of those big brass or copper ones with the eagle on top. Nice hack, but can you control it with Siri?

I love it!

"Siri, make me a cappuccino please"
"Would you like one or two shots?"
"Two please"
"Haven't you had enough already today? Your voice sounds a little shaky."

Mazzers are nice, but there are many other good grinders out there now. You can often find good used small commercial machines for under $300. The Rancilio grinder is ok, but for a little more you can get a much sturdier machine.

I picked up a free Faema MPN grinder last week. It has fresh burrs that I guess weren't adjusted right, and it was painted yellow by some hippy, but it works perfectly.

BTW, Visions Espresso on 1st Avenue in SODO is a great source for parts and service for your Silvia.
They've been a lot of help to me over the years.
