Your funeral - what sort of service do YOU want?

Let's say you visit the doctor and are shocked to learn that you have about a month to live. You have the opportunity to plan every detail of your own funeral service. How would you direct your loved ones to send you off?

I'm dead, so I would let my family do what ever is cheapest...

Or they could stuff me.

Cremate me. No services. Just let everyone get together and have a party. If they want, have a picture of me sitting on the bar. No tears, no fuss. Life's too damned short to be sad. Just let everyone tell their tale of the time they saw me do something really dumb, or the times I made them happy. I would much rather be sent off with a smile, and a laugh, than to have everyone see me lying in a box, and feel all screwed up about it.

Cremated, and want the wife to scatter my ashes out of a car while running around Nurburgring. (maybe she can cop a ride w/ Sabine in the "taxi")...Last time we went, my wife was a great sport for continuing even after we had to slow down and carefully negotiate a very bad wreck that had just happened at Foxhole.

An Irish wake.
But with less keening and more drinking.

Me too. Toast me, no service.

Actually I'm afraid no one would come to the funeral. So other than making it obvious no one cared enough to turn up, I'd have it as free drinks in a bar.

Probably, if it was a doctor one month type thing, I'd head off to some hot spot in the Middle East and go down in a hail of gun fire. Or sniping soldiers at a terrorist training camp in Indonesia. That way I'd get buried on the spot.

Thats easy. Full body donation. Once they are done with it my remains are cremated and returned to my next of kin and they know what to do with me from there.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

Well, for you guys that want to be cremated with no service, that wasn't the question. I think he meant for people who have willed a preference.

Since I don't prefer a service, maybe none will take place. It's not all up to me. I was surprised at how my dad's death was handled. Cremation and burial at sea.

He never even went to the beach, much less out on the water. We scattered my mom's ashes out at the golf course. Much more fitting. Our "service" was dinner at the country club.

Her kind of day.

Organs donated, the rest cremated and ashes tossed in the ocean at Zuma. Following that a large jam session/party with bass player/friends putting my instruments to good use.

Cremated, memorial service at our church with live music and happy memories, not just the sad (recent) ones, but a way to remember my life and those I love...

I asked my wife to cremate me, then she can take my ashes with her and her new boyfriend on their travels, dump some of me on all the beaches they go to. No service needed.

I like the viking funeral, but don't live near the ocean...so, default to cremated and the party, bar, picture, no tears. Gotta pick some music though...

During 4 visits and 46 laps logged at the N-ring, there have been 2 deaths and I've waited 4 or so hours for the ring to reopen while they removed bodies, Bikes, cars and replaced guardrail. Most of that was during the Festival of speed though (avoid that day if you ever go there).

That said, I imagine if anyone saw someone spreading ashes or any debris purposely on the ring would probably get followed in and get their ass beat. Unless you don't like your wife, I'd warn her about that.

Burnt to a smoking cinder. Ashes scattered on a 7 mile loop I ran on over 4,000 times in 30 years. Or put in a Nike shoe box I have saved and put in the back of closet somewhere.
