Know anyone who ever got away w/ it...
Talking to my dad about the guy who got him into the trade. Telling stories of bank robberies w/ shoe boxes of cash in his house when the cops showed up. He never got cuffed for them. That was in the 60's. Guy was a character w/ "F*** all Cops" on the inside of his wrists. He got it taken off after a couple beatings...deservedly so.
Know of anyone who got away w/ WAY more than a speeding ticket? Keep it outta PARF.

Being that my dad was a pretty big criminal defense lawyer, the answer is yes.

I know a lot of the local "Gumbas" that have gotten away with just about everything.
In my line of business you have to deal with them but I don't socialise or hang out with them. They always looking you up and down with a slight grin when you're talking to them. It's not a fun experience. ![]()

Yes. As Denis says, every lawyer will have dozens of such stories.

Bill Ayers. He even admits it.
And I believe my Father knew his Father...back in the early 1960's...

Did they have to get caught?
If not, then yes, yes I do.

I knew a guy who ran a "chemical lab" in the early 70s. He was living large on the proceeds of his product. His lab caught fire and he disappeared. Last anyone heard he was in Mexico. He left a pristine 65 Porsche coupe that they auctioned off at the local post office. It sat there for about 10 years and didn't know why. One day it was gone - sold for $750. I'm not telling his name.

This sorta reminds me of a long ago thread about if you found a bag of money....
Then there's the morality aspect. Some seem to think that if you get something off a big company, keep it. But if it's obvious it's someone's personal money, try to find the owner. Or not, I don't know. |

according to an FBI friend, he said anybody can get away with robbing a bank, as long as you only do it once. When you go back for seconds, that's when you get caught

The operative word there is "can." And since criminals like to return to the scene, it is the first place the detectives look.
