NAMM '12 roll call

Who's going?

If everything goes as planned, I'll be there--with the 911, no less.

Look for the cowboy with the mohawk. Seriously!

I'll be there Wed. and Sat. If you haven't been before, I'd not bring a 911 there. Traffic and parking are a nightmare. In fact, I'd not go there at all unless on my motorcycle, which I will be.

Good point, but I'm between a rock and a hard place on transportation. Need a gas (not diesel, like my VW) vehicle that can hold two people + luggage comfortably, without taking our family hauler. That leaves either the 911 or my '31 Ford, which is not really an option for more than 50 miles.

The 911 needs some exercise anyway!

Last year traffic on Sat. was backed up well onto Katella Ave. My buddy and I were on bikes and we rode past it all, were just about to the Sheraton Hotel where the big sign said "no event parking" and then a marching band parade started. Cops stopped all the cagers and waved us through. Then a guy from the hotel garage waved us in through a pedestrian walkway. We parked for free right next to the exit and were probably having lunch by the time the car at the head of the line got to its expensive parking space. I'd walk there from I-5 before I tried to park a car there.

I don't live in the OC but I used to for 13 years. Bring the 911 and park it at your hotel. Use public trans or a cab. Your hotel should have some kind of shuttle and the concierge can figure out who all is there for NAMM and get you guys a group ride. People will come and go at different times, so familiarize yourself with the bus, etc.

Anaheim is equipped for conventions. Hookers and blow.

I'll be there definitely Sunday as I'm bringing one of the show basses home with me and probably one other day as well. If you go on Sat/Sun the key is to get there before the doors open as traffic usually isn't as crazed.

WolfeMacleod 12-14-2011 09:14 AM

I will be there. We should get in on Sunday before the show starts I think. PLenty of time to do stuff before it starts.
Hopefully the BMW will be fixed by then. Was planning on packing a few guitars and such for some of the jams and an amp show down the road that's going on at the same time.

I kind of want to go, scratch that... I really kind of want to go. Going to go this year for the first time!

Not sure what days I can go might end up going on the weekend since school starts back up on the 14th. I've heard there's some sort of etiquette, you're not supposed to wear band shirts or something?

If that's true, it went totally ignored the last two times I was there. I even saw Phil Collen from Def Leppard wearing a real VH 1984 tour shirt with the character from Western Exterminator on it. That shirt is worth some $$ these days.

nostatic 12-14-2011 01:02 PM

etiquette at NAMM? :D :D :D

BlueSkyJaunte 12-14-2011 01:25 PM

LOL, "Come as (the freak) you are."

WolfeMacleod 12-14-2011 04:04 PM

Just a thought, and hopefully a good one.

All the people from here who will be there... we should all plan a dinner/get together. I do know that on Saturdday there's usually a "Gear Page" breakfast at Baker's Square just down the street...

yep.. we need to get togetherSmileWavy

Rick Lee 12-14-2011 04:16 PM

Don't forget Cars and Coffee just down the 5 in Irvine on Sat. morning. I'll be there.

nostatic 12-14-2011 06:02 PM

early mornings? Umm...err... :D

I have gigs Fri and Sat night but I shouldn't be the stick in the mud. Unfortunately they aren't anywhere close to Anaheim so logistically not really viable.
