And also interesting to note, this term comes from the book of Revelations 22:1.

Taken moderately, the closest thing to heaven on earth.

On my wall:

I prefer the SE quadrant closer to the center.

You shouldn't store scotch on the cork (on it's side) like you would wine. The high alcohol content acts as a solvent, damaging the cork over time.

Water/ice = man down!

Thanks for posting that. I've never seen a flavour chart. I am UR upper right.

The old argument that Jameson is Catholic whiskey and Bushmills is Protestant comes from the location of their distilleries - Jameson's being in County Cork in the predominitely Catholic Republic of Ireland and Bushmills being in Northern Ireland, a predominately protestant area.

However, this is a debate that is normally not heard anywhere other than in the US. And what's even more interesting is that Bushmills is now owned by Diageo, a company based England - a largely Protestant country, while Jameson is owned by Pernod-Ricard a company based in France - a predominantly Catholic country.

So, location be damned - the Catholics are producing Bushmills in Northern Ireland and the Prots Jameson in the south!

Personally I prefer Midlelton's the best - but at $100 a bottle, I rarely buy it. Next comes Red Breast and then Jameson. Jameson is easy to find so that's usually my whiskey of choice - on the rocks.

Round Vs. Square This is a new one on me. Bushmills is the only square Irish whiskey bottle I know of.

Is that the only Protestant Irish whiskey?

I have always wondered this but never found the answer. Why do the Scotch spell it Whisky and the Irish and Americans spell it Whiskey? (Maker's Mark being an exception)

This is what the right temperate amount of Caol Ila looks like.
