Just bought this car...

New daily driver. Gave up on the Mini Cooper S mostly due to excessive road noise on distance runs. I'm in sales and on the bluetooth a lot. Road noise so bad I would wear out my voice yelling over the noise all the time.

Decided on something more practical, but sporty and reasonably quick. Checked out a lot of mid-level sedans and narrowed down to BMW 335i, Lexus IS 350 and Infiniti G37. Last stop was the Infiniti dealership. Sales guy was actually a normal chap (don't get me started on the MB guy). Walked in and saw the G37 Limited Edition Sedan (supposedly only 400 made world wide) in the center of the showroom. Done.

I know it's a Nissan, but only 400 made is a good thing to me. Won't see them all over town. Wheels are really nice, sport leather charcoal seats, paddle shifters, sport suspension, huge brakes, front/rear spoiler, Nav, etc. Still going a bit easy as it's still new, but holy schit this thing is all about acceleration and handling. Goes like a rocket when needed, but very quiet, comfortable and pleasant to settle into. Great stereo too. So far so good. Smitten...

Very cool and congrats!

The limited edition is an aesthetics package on the car but neat non the less.

I had a M45 which I loved and was flawless.

You will certainly love your "G"

Very nice. I test drove a regular G37 sedan with a buddy and came away very impressed, the V6 has very impressive pull and it seemed to ride and handle well. Nice interior as well.

Very good choice...especially considering the road time you log.

Sweet ride. Congrats. I know what you mean about the wind and road noise. That's why I love my BMW.

My buddy got a G35 a few years after they came out. Big, comfortable, fast sedan that handled better than I thought it would. Still serving him well after MANY years of service.

That is going to be a fun car you have there. Nice picture too.

Not much to tell really. Guy comes out with hair spiked to an Ed Grimley point with a loud paisley shirt, bright purple striped suit jacket and an arrogant disposition. Not sure where they find these guys but not what I expected as a 50+ conservative customer. I can get past the outfit, but the arrogance was so distasteful that the whole package had me heading off to another dealership.

Thanks for the comments. I know it's an aesthetics package and interestingly, the horsepower rating is actually 328 vs 330 for the non-S version. Not sure where the 2hp went, but more than anything I enjoy having something that's not quite so common to see on the road. First Infiniti for me so hoping for experience like those above.

Merry Christmas,
Mike

BMWs are fine cars but often spoilt by (some of) the people either driving them or selling them.

I walked into a dealership 20 years ago and the first thing the salesman asked me is what did I do for a living.
I told him I was in catering. (I had a catering business at the time) That didn't seem to satisfy him and he kept pestering me for my mobile number and company name.
He insinuated that I was full of BS and pulled out the phone book and asked for my company name.
As soon as he did that I walked walked out and later wrote a letter of complaint to the dealer principle. No reply or response... So I wrote to BMW Australia and once again no reply or response.

Shame really, BMWs are great cars.

Daughter has a standard G37. I was really impressed when I took it out for a "spin". Luxurious interior, very quite ride and it will really move when you ask it to.

Daughter is also in sales. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better car if you do a lot of driving.

I sat in a coupe a few years ago... if I was in the market it would be on my short list.

"I know it is a Nissan"

But that is the beauty of it, great looks, good performance, and the reliability of a Nissan... win-win

You'll love it. A lot of car for the money with refinement, power and handling much greater than expected.

I would have never believed it until I bought mine.

Congrats!

On the upside it's not a badge engineered Nissan, you won't find the same car with a different name over on the Nissan lot.

Someone told me the two door was pretty much a 370Z in a different body. I test drove one and all they had was a 4 wheel drive auto. When you mashed the gas it seemed like it took at least half a second for it to figure out what to do.

The 370Z and G37 Coupe share platforms, but the G is a 4 seater where the Z is 2, and the G is available in AWD where the Z is rear only.

Hope to hell the G37 gives the driver more space. I looked at a 370Z before buying the Mustang. I didn't test drive, which was kind of disappointing, since the magazine reviews raved. Alas, I was so cramped, I didn't think I could drive it effectively, let alone tolerate it for more than 50 miles.

I guess in my old age, comfort is important...

We have taken my wife's G35X on a few road trips. It sure is quiet inside at highway speeds.

Her only complaint is the gas mileage. She drive very conservatively and only get 16 to 17 MPG around town.
