I'm afraid to try... a large mild Starbucks puts me into near cardiac arrest.

Yes; it's nice. Feels nice like B-12/ginseng as opposed to "caffeine nightmare."

They work great. No crash. It's basically a niacin rush with minimal if any caffeine.

Burn the fire.

Just don't do more than 1 a day... Excessive consumption can lead to liver/kidney problems.

I take a big wollop of niacin like that and it makes me feel like the top of my head is going to come off.
When I find myself lacking energy, I get more exercise and fresh air.

I was very a skeptic about this product at first so I gave it a try, and I have to tell you that the thing is amazing, I have monitored how it works for me so these are just my individual results.
Within 20 minutes, I can feel the boost already creeping. I can be on the move non stop balls to the walls for about 2 1/2 to 3 Hours after I can i still have the energy but not as intense. I dont think you can have 5hrs of energy out of it.

I tried it last January on a road trip.
Left Columbus, OH for Paris Island, SC late afternoon and hit major snow near Charleston WV. I knew I was tired already, stopped and bought one at a convenience store. I was surprised how expensive it was, and didn't really care for the grape flavor. Four inches of snow, lots of blowing snow across the road. Was fortunate enough to have new tires, and was able to cruise just slightly faster than most of the traffic with no issues. I felt OK, didn't really notice the effect (if any) of the 5-Hour Energy. Out of the snow near Charlotte at 11pm, continued on to Paris Island with no issues. Long story short, I thought it helped me, but I would only use it in special circumstances. My $.02

I use them when I do 24 hour mountain bike races. I have to be real careful, because at the time I need it, my stomach is real sensitive. Tiny sip. Tiny sip. Between about 2am and 5am it will keep me on the bike and pedaling.
I have to warn you of something bad that happened when I took this one time... I'd finished a 24 in Tuscon, then loaded the truck and kids, and drove to Flagstaff. Got up early, went to the Grand Canyon, then drove to Barstow and got a good night's sleep. The problem with a 24 hour race, is that it is the 2nd day after the race that really makes my wagon drag... I woke up and 3, rousted the kids, and headed toward Oregon. Somewhere near Stockton, I was feeling really out of sorts. I drank two of these and chased it with a Starbucks double-shot. For a little while, everything was fine, but then I became aware that I was aggressively clenching the steering wheel. White knuckled. Stopped at a rest area north of Sacramento with my adrenalin just pounding and a literal blood rush in my face. As I was washing my hands after using the restroom, a really nasty looking lady came out of a stall, walked by the sinks and then out the door. No washing. At that point in time, it was the most disgusting thing I could imagine added to the fact that the only way for me to get out was to touch the same door - used a napkin (actually I always do that). I was determined to have a word with her regarding her unsanitary habits. She saw me walking toward her and apparently I didn't have a very pleasant look on my face. She walked faster. I matched her speed. Glancing nervously over her shoulder, she started to jog and get her car keys out. I broke into a full bore sprint. Probably lucky that she hadn't locked her car because she was able to just jump in and literally burn rubber away. I actually chased the car itself out of the parking lot. By the time I had started running, I had decided to make it a physical altercation. I would describe this as a psychotic break. Others might describe as a simple manifestation of my occasionally bat**** crazy attitude. ![]() I'll tell you this - if you use this, don't over use it. Of course, as it's made in China there's probably melamin in it. Maybe that causes psycho reactions in red headed women! angela
