I'm jewish so in my 'operational' past (I'm in sales now) I used to always volunteer to be on call for EVERYTHING for christmas as long as I got 3 days for new years off and no hard time regarding time off for the High Holy Days (usually in September).

Now, I would still do the same but since I'm no longer participating in an on call situation and we have a mandatory PTO policy I don't have to.

Yes, but got to sneak home for a bit this morning. I work most holidays, but don't mind. I'm off Tues-Thurs next week & get to hang out with my boy on Coruscant.

Worked more Christmas days than I care to remember. None since I retired at age 52 in 2003.

I started at 7:30 Sat morning and got home about 2am this morning, then back from 6:30 to 10 am today. But the rest of the day should be mine. Bunch of surgery, appys, gunshots, great Christmas Eve fun.

Not today.... We have in the past though, get a call that a storm has knocked something in a driveway, and we go to clear it...

We just got back from Phoenix retrieving the newest work truck, some rough weather made it a stressful trip home, doubt we work tomorrow either....

The one upside to working is the relatives all came weeks ago, and we don't have to travel out of state, so now that the kids are in bed, my wife and I can have a quiet night.

I've had to work many, many holidays and have been away from home for many while in the military and as a civilian, so I really appreciate being with family and friends during the holidays!!

But working is one thing, but not being able to go home for a few days over the holidays is even worse!

I've lost track of the number of years I've been stuck at one job or another on Christmas, Easter, whatever. Thankfully the current job doesn't (and likely won't ever) require it. My side work/projects on the other hand...
