What's fun for two single gals to do in the OC/LA area for NY eve?
A girlfriend and I want to do something different for New Year's this year. We are thinking of either going to the OC/LA area or going to a ski resort in Colorado.
Make the case for the OC/LA area... we are up for anything really. What are the big events or places to go? Even unusual events are OK. Like I said, we want this to be a memorable year... We are adventurous girls. Active. If it isn't CA, we will head to CO to snowboard. I would say we don't like places that are overly crowded (ie: a really crowded club/bar). We are both in our late thirties, single, and cute. ![]() |

How about visiting Oklahoma City??? There just might be a local guy there who could show yall the ocean views and get you close to the ski resorts! (Just trying to help out!!!! ;-)
Seeing as how I like California so much, I'd suggest checking out Colorado! There is always something going on and the resorts will be busy during that time! Good slopes, great views, generally laid back people! You can even join in on the bashing of Texans while you are there, fit right in! My experience was around Vail and Beaver Creek, I had great fun even though I do not ski...

Well, if you're both car people, the OC has Cars and Coffee in Irvine early Saturday mornings. Great, authentic Chinese food too.
This thread is useless without photos.

Just about any hotel near the beach will have fireworks viewing and a party. Newport= big money. Huntington = near big money. Seal Beach = snooze. Long Beach = lots of parties, some pretty sleazy. Don't know about the Queen Mary, never been. Laguna = you need to know somebody. The Californian at Disney, don't know, but I'm sure they have a package.
L.A. = zoo. Santa Monica, ask Todd. Hermosa, ask Mike. Malibu, you need too know somebody important. New Years Day = fun runs. I go to the OC one nowadays. It would be nice to know somebody. |

Schumi Chapter 8: How I distracted Vicki and Annette. Now I have found both of "The one's".

LA isn't a happening place on New Years. I'd opt for the Lake Tahoe suggestion.

When I clicked in and read the part about "we are up for anything really", I thought, "surely she's trying to set us all up."

Asking about OC/LA is like asking what should we do this weekend in South America. The only thing that LA and OC have in common is that they are geographically close to each other (think: OC=a bunch of conservative boring white people; LA=a bunch of people)
LA can be fun for NYE, I would highly suggest that you stick to the West side since there is a ton of choices in the area. Lake tahoe is also great if you're skiing, I wouldn't go there for the entertainment but i'll take the entertainment if I've been skiing ;-) I also like CO and think that that would be much more fun and open to the "public". In LA most fun things to do are privately held, think "ropes and lists". People that go to Vegas for NYE are always trying to have that "time" of their life that doesn't exist...bunch of f'ng rookies! YMMV. |

I like visiting Vegas...
But would never go for NYE... Everyone I know who has tried it hated it. Think long long lines and long waits, for bathroom, food, drinks... YMMV

You guys know what I look like... You don't need pics. :P and my girlfriend and I are going to be in Vegas this weekend to run the half marathon. So no Vegas on NYE. Wow, it sounds like CA might be out. Thought there would be a lot going on there. And yes, I agree LA and the OC are of two different worlds but I was just saying I would be up to do either. I would be staying in Laguna though.
And what I meant by we would be up for anything, I meant that we aren't skittish girls. We have a lot of moxie so a motorcycle run through the hills or along the beach may scare some girls but not us. That's what I meant. ![]() So really? The cute mountain men and snowboarders get to be the lucky ones to get a midnight kiss? Ha ha! Sorry, CA! |
