Sorry to hear of this, sounds like he was a good guy. 86 years is a good long life, in the old days it was almost unheard of. I talked to my Dad on NY day, he said that his goal is to make it to 80. (April '12). He has been in poor health for years due to cancer. He beat it but has never been close to the same.

It sounds like you are very much at peace with your Dad's passing which is good. You will miss him but I miss my, (young healthy), Dad and he's still alive. So it's relative...

RIP and thanks for sharing it here.

Sorry for our loss. Not looking forward to that stage of life, but my parents are slowing with every year.

My condolences Todd. I was just looking at a picture of my late Father.

So sorry to hear this Todd. Even if you think you're prepared, it's still an empty feeling. But let me assure you, the feelings of pain and loss will eventually be replaced with fond memories of happy times. Every parent's wish is that their kids grow up well, and I think you did that just fine. Our thoughts and prayers are with you & the family buddy. take care.

Sorry for your loss, Todd. But, happy to hear that you have been preparing and it wasn't unexpected. Stay strong.

Todd,

My condolences to you for your loss and to your fiancee for hers.

wdfifteen 01-02-2012 10:14 AM

My thoughts are with you Todd. You sound as if you're at peace with his passing, and that has to be a comfort. "As Autumn moves to Winter" is beautiful. My dad was born in 1925 too.

My condolences to you and your fiancee. It's not easy to lose a parent.

Please don't take the following as condescending. I mean it with good intentions. I hope both of you take a little time now to grieve and get a little personal closure. Combine that with the memories of the good times you had with them and be thankful for the amount of time you had. It always could have been much less time and worse circumstances.

I'm sorry for your loss, Todd.
It will be a time of begining life again with a part of you missing. Sometimes in terminal situations the person is ready and choses to go, and I hope this was so.
Godbless.

DonDavis 01-02-2012 12:00 PM

May he rest in peace. God speed.

fingpilot 01-02-2012 12:53 PM

Todd;

Sorry to hear. He's free of his worries and pains. He knows now all the truths.

You'll catch him in your dreams soon. Let him know he's loved.

M.

We all know every life comes to an end, but that doesn't makeit any easier for there is a hole where once a man stood in our life.

The true measure of a man is how well his children turn out. And mark my words if one does not go through the full monte of the grieving process at some point in life it will come back and bite one on the azz.
