Do FWD cars understeer?

Looks like they oversteer like 911s:

Weren't at least some of them 4WD? In the commercial it looks like all 4 wheels are spinning.

You can spin a FWD car, it just takes a lot more work and a way too fast turn entry combined with panic braking then letting off all while steering like mad.

My corolla plows a like a *****....

I tried flicking it on a skid pad and it just wouldnt go all the way around. I could get it pretty sideways, but no full spin.

In other news, a few interior bits don't fit right now. : D

Find your handbrake, Grasshopper. Lurid oversteering slides are but a pull away.

Any car can be made to over or under steer. From the factory most cars are setup to under steer for safety reasons. That being said I had a 79 VW Scirocco that I autocrossed. We set it up to oversteer very badly and it was awesome. If you got into a long sweeper the tail would just come out and with an LSD up front you could just hammer on the throttle and the nose would pull you around. It was a perfect FWD drift car.

On cars setup close to neutral or with just a little understeer you can bump up the tire pressure in the rear and get them to just neutral or a little oversteer. Also a big rear sway bar helps.......

Wow that is exactly how my Scirocco handled! The LSD though is key, otherwise you just end up spinning your front inside corner. I always ran 400lb springs in the front a 800lb springs in the rear. Everyone thought I was nuts until they saw the car handle like that mini. Way cool video!

My '07 GTI had oversteer as well. I think part of it is the hatchback design - having the extra weight in back and up high helps the tail come around.

They understeer, you just have to be a bit hot on corner entry, lift then get back on it and you can 4 wheel drift just like non-wrong wheel drive cars.

Easy enough to get a 911 understeering......ths is the sharpest FWD car Ive ever driven. Renault Megane RS250. It has a trick front diff arrangement and its just a awesome thing. It will oversteer on lift off. Wife wants one badly.....

Did you notice how small the rear tires are?

Put wheelbarrow tires on, and pump them up to 80psi, and your FWD car will oversteer.

Bump the rear tire pressure to about 50 PSI cold. It will rotate like Jenna Jameson.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

I race a dodge neon rally car. You would be surprised at the amount of oversteer I can dial in with left foot braking into turns to get the car rotated. front diff is welded and will pull the car through just about any corner apex exit.

My corrado had a lot of promise on the AutoX, unfortunately I only got it out once, and it spit the heater core up on the second run!
