Anyone use Uship.com?

I was watching "Shipping Wars" last night on Discovery and they mentioned the company. I've never heard of it. Looked thru their web site and I can't find any mention of what they charge on the delivery end, just what the shipper pays.

Anyone here deal with them?

I've used them to ship a car and a motorcycle. Had them bid on moving a boat once. The service is a bid site where you state what you are shipping and where to include your needs i.e. Enclosed trailer or open, bonded driver or not etc...

Then the parties send you bids and negotiations start.

I have had friends use it as well. No issues. Hopefully it stays positive for all.

Fun show it seemed. The old dorky/loser goober with the long hair and the smoking Duramax truck was funny to watch. The young guy was literally the polar opposite of risk averse! It seems like there is no "cost" as it was based on bids?

I used them once...a decent price...2 bikes from SF Bay Area > Portland = $400.
.
A yr. later a buyer for one of my bikes found a Uship guy to Xport from Portland > SF Bay Area for $150 in an enclosed rig. No problems either episode.
Both shippers seemed sane. I'd use Uship again.

I tried to use it, but the quotes were all way high, so I drove over & picked up the stuff myself.

IIRC, you put in the size/weight & how much you will pay, the 'bidders' do the rest.

I've used it several times to have bikes shipped from the midwest and NE to Montana. Worked very well. Most of the quotes were sky-high, like $1200 for a single bike, but I ended up finding a guy who delivers RVs to the Montana/Wyoming area. He has room in his truck for bikes, so we've worked out a deal we're both happy with. We used uShip's escrow/payment service the first time, but now its just trust & cash.

I saw a go kart on eBay that had Uship.com as the shipping arrangement. Seemed like an open ended deal, so I went no further.

Wasn't looking for a kart either.

If you need to move LTL (less than a truckload), use Freight88.com

You are not talking for freight88.

They are simply a consolidator of regular freight companies. They let you see the prices of several difference companies and you choose which one you use.

And yes, I use them, but have no financial interest in them.

I actually submitted requests for bid there when I bought the GT3 Cup...

I got a number of replies from people, and a few fully met the criteria. In the end I got a better deal for a referral and went with Sunday Auto Transport. Highly recommended. Good price and GREAT service and professionalism.

Funny story.. ...and this time they were putting together the pilot for Shipping wars. Their producer wrote me and asked if I would consider signing up to let them film my shipment for their new program documenting this whole business. It was the aforementioned television show.

I thought about it quite a bit but in the end, declined. Main reasons were the compensation only covered about 10% of the shipping cost (about .01% of the value of the car). Knowing that these reality type shows thrive on conflict I figured the outcome would be:

1) The car was damaged or put through some trauma to add drama to the show:
2) If #1 didn't happen, they would make the new owner look like a total jackass or goober
3) If #1 or #2 didn't happen, it would never air, then what would be the point.

I could just imagine watching the episode and seeing some okie truck driver wiping out a $1000 Tilton clutch driving the car into the trailer and then through clever editing making me look like a total fool (as I gleefully received the car) on camera.

Cool story Chris!

I read reviews on there from time to time as we are likely to buy a trailer in the Mid-West and need it delivered out here to the PNW....

Cheers
