its funny when people pronounce .....

Fuchs (foo-k's)= Fox in German

"foooo-shhh-ehhss"

just having a midnight chuckle

or Porsche (2 syllables)

"Porch's" or "pooorsshhhh"

I got kicks listing to people pronounce our beloved cars/wheels
at the VW swapmeet lol

Mmmm. Covered to death before, but anyway. The ch in Fuchs is as a guttural ch - same as the ch in a Scottish Loch. It is not a lock is it?

Yes yes Porsche is a two syllable word, but it only ends on an A in the US. In Europe it ends the way it is written, on an E.

Fook me I'm grumpy this morning. Please excuse me.

The newer, more anal the owner the more strident the distinction.....I was once 'corrected' when I remarked on an 87 an office mate once bought.

I said 'nice 911'...he sneered at me and said 'it's a Por-sha Ca-rrer-a'.......'two sylables, followed by three'....my response was 'so is dickhead, ya pen-is'.....

I just say my car is a Boxster and that eliminates the chance of mispronouncing Porsche. I also have a major peeve with the way people say a word should be pronounced. As long as the point is got across to the recipient. That's all u need is a lesson on how to pronounce Porsche. That is so funny. People who try to impress are not impressive. No response needed, I just walk way.

One day I hope to live in a place where I can pronounce it as two syllables. Over here if you say Porsch-uh you are immediately deemed to have an even smaller pen-is than what you were assumed to have when you arrived in your 911 in the first place.

I prefer to say it's basically a volkswagen.....

When I had a '62 XKE - people always commented on my JAG-WIRE

Also, is it a "COOP" or a "Coo-Pay"?

Blonde knocks on doors to see if she can do something for money. Guy gives her a bucket of paint and tells her to paint the back porch. She returns to the door after a couple of hours and announces she is finished. "And by the way" she says, "It's not a porch. It's a Mercedes."
