Cops and speeders
I was just reading threads on another forum as relating to a cop that had apparently turned around to go after a speeder and was doing 2 to 3 times the speed to catch the speeder...seemed kind of like overkill to me...probably not all of the story though...
(really just did this as a test for the new avatar to see if I like it)

Too big to fail

I know this will catch the ire of the cops on here, but sometimes I have to wonder about the extremes they'll go to to catch someone for seemingly minor traffic violations. It's either there's more to the story, or insanely stupid. For instance, there was a cop locally years ago that took off after someone for not having his lights on around sunrise, and sped out of control, hit a bridge abutment and died. I have to ask was someone driving without their lights on *really* so important it's worth dying for? And some of the CHP motorcycle cops are sheer maniacs - some of the manuevers I've seen them do are just suicidal. I know for a fact if they saw a 'civilian' pull one of those tricks, they'd pull him over in a heartbeat.
Ok, rant over.

Easy... they named a section of So-Cal freeway after one cop who drove off a section of bridge that a quake had taken out...
