I mean c'mon, it has LED brake lights AND a K&N filter. $242K was a bargain.

holy chit, i hadn't even seen the link under the pic
I thought 240K was crazy if it was one of those shop built Elenors like they showed on Discovery, and those were built from the ground up by a specialized shop. As new.

But now i see the pics, this POS was self built and looks like crap compared to those as new-builds.

There are to much stupid rich people, i really should have less morals and get some of the loot myself...

Just watched the opening on today's coverage and they talked about this Mustang...they said the seller was expecting $100,000 for the car.

I watched it live yesterday and the sellers were going crazy when bidding was at $125,000, they looked like they won the lottery when it hit $200,000. It was a seller's dream, they got 2 guys with money who both wanted the car. The new owner lost money on the car when the hammer fell if you ask me.

Here is the 68 GT500KR that sold for $70k earlier. I would have paid more for this car than this clone all day long.

Lot Details

"....glove box is signed by Carroll Shelby."

Surely this is the difference.

Isn't every Shelby Mustang clone's and kit Cobra's? It sure seems that way. He really knows how to sell out.

Shelby would sign your **** if you paid the price but contrary to popular believe, he's not selling his name for personal gain. Instead, the money raised goes to a charity for children. In the past the proceeds had gone to the Heart Association for obvious reason. Shelby gets a tremendous amount of grief over being sue happy because they think it's all about the money, I personally think they're missing the mark by a country mile.

Back on topic, I read through the write-up on this car and the builder utilized top shelf parts from front to rear, but they kept the original 8" rear-end. Anyone who has built an American car with any horsepower north of 500hp would almost always go with a 9" rear-end unless the car already has a robust factory rear-end (i.e. GM 12 bolt).

Last nite somebody bought "tina" the 996 driven the the movie Gone in 60 seconds. It wasnt a real 996 but a poorly rebodied 78sc. It sold for 30k, sucker born every 60 seconds it would seem.

...coming to ebay soon...

Saw a guy nicely restore a Cougar GTE, sell it for ~$180K at BJ. Not long after that the same car stopped showing up on eBay at about $100K asking. I think that car is seen here:

1969 Mercury Cougar: Barrett-Jackson Lot: 1247 - 1968 MERCURY COUGAR GT-E 427 2 DOOR COUPE Sold $181,500.00

Barret Jackson seem like a great place to see or sell cars and a horrible place to buy one.

Heck, I thought you were talking about another Cougar. This one might have a few more miles than the one sold at BJ.

that looks like a '67 GDD...not as rare but possibly more desirable...especially if equipped with a detroit locker rear-end!

I've always thought Mustangs look better in real life than in photos. We have a cruise locally called the Wipple Crusie and there's always a lot of American muscle present.... And the Mustrangs are some of the finest you'll see. We've even had Americans buying these rot free and very orriginal cars and shipping them back to the states. The problem is some have been converted to RHD but even these are looked at with consideration on how the conversion was done and how easy it would be to return the car to LHD.

Apparently, the eBay car and the BJ car are different cars. My bad.

Just watched an episode of Rides on the Velocity channel about the Stang. See the program and you might understand it.... the Shelby connection, Hollywood, this particular build, who's who behind it and the following series. It's wicked period

I know we can't compare it to a legite historic racer but I know of and have seen recently a 1965 Shelby Mustang- street version, no comp duty or races logged. The car was complete, 100% original including paint but very rough condition with rot thru the trunk and other spots. I realize the 65's have the most appeal and this was probably the last known un-touched but this hell bent Shelby was a very TALL price and makes this Mustang Elly look like a bargain. Furthermore, the legite virgin 65 Shelby is having a full blown restoration so I would expect the owner to pay additional $50-60K before its ready. Insane prices these days.
